Halloween Night '26 in Lynchburg for $400k per A Sea of Red.

Thoughts?

Nice little payday for a short bus ride and likely FBS win

It is a good game for both parties. I just wish it was an FBS vs FBS matchup.

Hopefully we are still the dominant program in 6 years.

RE: @ Liberty 2026 - Ewglenn - 06-04-2020 08:55 AM

How many fans do you think y’all will bring?

In 6 years from now, who knows.

I could see about 4,000 now if no convid 19. Who knows where either program will be 6 years from now either quality or conference wise?

Not sure how I feel about this. From a dollars and cents standpoint, this is a great game. And I do believe we'll travel well too, so it'll be an exciting atmosphere.

Do wonder how the players view this. I would think they look forward to the annual P5/AAC type game. A chance to prove themselves against regional, name schools that perhaps didn't recruit them.

Then there's the selfish aspect. Playing at an FBS school that we outdraw just grinds my gears. I would absolutely hate it if we were ever to "bend the knee" and agree to an away game against ODU.

Anyway, congrats on getting this done. It does make a lot of sense.

I wasn't that into games versus Liberty in the past. In the current situation adding 400k and a very possible, if not likely FBS win, it works for me.

Once again - six years is a long time away and a lot can happen.

Wow, that's an awful lot to pay for an ass-whipping!

Liberty admin should have hired Jussie Smollett. He knows how to get it done much cheaper.

I think it will be by then.

As many as you will allow us tickets for. If I can get a ticket, I will come from Texas.

Can't wait.....we owe them one and have always performed well in games at Liberty in the past.

RE: @ Liberty 2026 - SlyFox - 06-04-2020 09:26 AM

From Liberty's perspective, if you guys are FBS by 2026 then we got a cheap FBS home date. If not then it cost us nothing more than other FCS guarantee games. Then you factor in local attendance boost from both schools and it makes a bunch of sense.

Speaking of attendance, keep in mind that you have no idea how your Bridgeforth numbers would be counted under FBS guidelines this past season. Our numbers sank when we moved up with an expanded stadium in 2018 because the rules change on counting making them more accurate. I suspect we actually drew similar numbers to you all in actual fans in 2019 in spite of our lower published totals. But with cheaper FCS tickets it likely gave you all a slight edge. Both teams draw comparatively well.

Wasn't that the total JMU paid to host the last meeting in 2014? 02-13-banana

When do they come to BFS for the return game 05-stirthepot

RE: @ Liberty 2026 - SlyFox - 06-04-2020 09:34 AM

I suspect it will be when you all are ready to step out of the kiddie pool and take a dive.

How many tickets will have the possibility of ending up in the hands of JMU fans?

Good point if that's the case. I don't know. I was referring specifically to the 2026 date.

We are so many light years better than we were in 2014, I can only imagine how good we are going to be in 2026. Scary good, I believe!

Of course, Liberty may be much more improved also. It will be a very fun game and I think there could be a rivalry brewing there. If the coming shakeup puts Liberty and JMU in the same conference, I'm certain of it!

I agree. That should have been a home and home.

And, since its Halloween, I'm coming as Moses, out of undying veneration for our hosts, of course.
