Donated. Over 4,000 so far, with 10 hours to go. Definitely looks like it'll be a decline from last year, but with unemployment over 10% that's to be expected

I donated earlier - I’ve really been a fan of this fundraising strategy.

Classy.

1 Tribe Day - June 23rd - Tribal - 06-23-2020 08:28 PM

As we come to the end of One Tribe One Day, I am grateful for every person who participated. We accelerate change when we unite  around shared purposes and a shared mission.

Thank you for contributing today. Your investment will make a difference in the lives of  our students, faculty and staff as they work to accelerate  positive change in our world.

Our leadership donors collectively contributed $635,000 to funds that will help transform teaching, learning and research at William & Mary to ensure that our mission of belonging is realized fully. Their generosity amplifies the impact of all the gifts made on One Tribe One Day.

We are resilient, we are creative — and together, we are powerful. On behalf of the W&M family here in Williamsburg and spread across the globe, thank you for being part of this bold moment at William & Mary.

Best regards,

All things considered, that doesn't seem too bad. Quite a short from the norm, but I'm sure that was anticipated.

1/2 the donors and much less than half the money means issues stretching beyond COVID-19 & BLM. I can understand a lot less money but 700,000 ppl said no thanks to giving even $25

In the past I think a lot of alumni associations did in person events to go along with the day, so those all getting cancelled hurt too.

Moving dates probably also made it tougher to advertise, I basically forgot about it until this morning (Though, this is my first year not as a student, so I was usually aware from campus signage as much as anything)

Don't believe the final number of contributors has been released yet...it was approaching 5000 people with ten hours remaining.

Half the country is on uncertain financial footing. Regardless of amount, I totally get that giving is not at the forefront of people's minds. I think a better indicator is comparing giving at other schools one-day drives to ours. What do their numbers look like? Are they similarly off compared to the previous year? If their numbers haven't been greatly effected, than I agree, we need to examine what is going on. I will say that the advertising leading up to the day was definitely lighter than years past. Maybe the soft sell was deliberate in respect to the economy.

Maybe those who follow this more closely can clarify some terminology for me.

President Rowe’s note refers to “leadership donors” contributing $650K that “amplifies the impact of all the gifts” made on OTOD.

Sounds to me like the $650K is NOT the total take OTOD This year while the $2.5 million cited for last year was the total take.

Either way the messaging is a bit opaque.
