Favorite players? - NIU007 - 05-23-2020 04:31 PM

I started a thread on the NIU board asking people's favorite NIU football players to watch (trip down memory lane, basically) - for NIU, people like Wolfe, Turner, Harnish, Lynch, Leshon Johnson.

For Toledo, who were your favorite players to watch?

Too many.
#1 Mr Ealey
I have to put Mike Bell up towards the top
just because I saw his love for UT when he was
a student-athlete.

Mike Bell was also a great mayor for the city of Toledo...
A lot of others (Ford-O$U, Kapabaggage, Finkwhiner-UM) would just give the University basic lip service, unless they were campaigning...

Wasean Tait was probably the best runningback before his injury, but Scooter McDougal was unstoppable during that Miami game/MACC. I very much enjoyed that game. I just loved watching Bruce Gradkowski run that naked bootleg. It was perfection. Andrew Clark for sure. Lance Moore and his brother Nick - although Nick was never the same after he took that hit. I was surprised he even got up after that one.

Nick's 20 receptions against the Wolverines, was the Big House single game record.

I've only been watching the Rockets since about 97. I agree with most of the players on the list. A couple I don't see are Aaron Donald, Chester Taylor, Bernard Reedy and Michael Roberts.

RE: Favorite players? - Michigan Rocket - 05-27-2020 09:17 AM

See my response above about Michael Roberts. What I love about this topic is that there are no wrong answers. Someone mentioned Tom Beutler. He's a great one too. UT Athletics HOF. Mike Kennedy was the man back when I attended Toledo. I remember there was Pre-season hype about him for The Heisman Trophy.

RE: Favorite players? - BearcatMan - 05-27-2020 11:02 AM

I loved watching Lance Moore and Bernard Reedy work.

RE: Favorite players? - falconplucker - 05-27-2020 09:50 PM

My list is kind of lengthy. I did only go with players who I've seen in action. It's my All Falconplucker All-Stars:
1)Bruce Gradkowski is at the top of the mountain! The guy with the inner "it factor", Mr. Crunchtime, and I haven't seen anyone as good since.
2) Casey McBeth
3) Todd France
4) Lance Moore
5) Wasean Tait
6) Chester Taylor
7) Eric Page
8) Bernard Reedy
The rest in no particular order:
Andy Boyd
Barry Church
Trinity Dawson
TJ Fatinikun
David Gardner
John Greco
Andrew Hawkins
Tyrell Herbert
Nick Kaczur
Greg Mancz
Andy McCollum
Dan Molls
Cody Thompson
Diontae Johnson
Tom Ward
Chris Wallace
DeJuan Goulde
Bryce Harris
Kevin Kowalski
Jon'Vea Johnson

RE: Favorite players? - UofToledoFans - 05-28-2020 01:04 PM

Worked with the team between 2012 and 2017. I'll exclude any of them for personal bias (which has a ton of great players).

Taylor, Dawson, Parmele, Moore, and Page really stick out at the skill. Steigerwald and France for ST. Ward, Donald, and Church on D.
