Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was asked about the upcoming football and basketball seasons...
With June 1 coming up, here's what Gov. Andy Beshear said when asked about the NCAA's decision and sports returning during his Wednesday press conference.
"It's still a little early to tell. I think where people are trending is games without fans because it's the mass number when you have fans that can spread. But some sports have a lot of contact too. I want to be really cognizant that these are student-athletes, right? They're not paid professionals. And we want to make sure that it is safe for them. Now they are a part of an age group that respond the best to this virus in terms of health outcome, but they still get it.
"I know that when we talk about youth sports, it's going to be low contact sports. And then on the high contact sports, we're going to try to come up with guidance that lets you do individual workouts and team practices that don't involve the actual contact. Sow there's a lot of contact in basketball. We don't think about it the same way we do football, but there's a lot of contact. Now if we get some guidance out there that would let people practice but not scrimmage, for instance, thoughts about having them spread out until we can get to the point where we think it's safer, which could be later in the summer. Again, we're watching all this.

This is really good news everyone.
It is highly unlikely any other governor will propose something more conservative than this.
It is highly unlikely this very conservative position will prevail.
We are going to have sports folks. This is good news.

Here's what happened in the elections this past November.
Incumbent Republican Governor, Matt Bevin, was wildly unpopular, and did and said embarrassing things leading up to the election, but still, was the sitting governor. So the Rep. did not primary him (mistake #1). They let him go ahead and run.

No name Libertarian 23,433.
Ouch. Lost by 0.37%

By the way, Republican Atty Gen played football at U of L and is the first African American to win the Atty Gen office in state history. To have a U of L alum, a black one at that, win so convincingly is crazy. He could be a serious up-and-comer.

By the way, the Dem candidate for SOS was a former Miss America, and former Republican, so this was a bit of a shocker too.

The crazy part of this is the Incumbent Republican Governor LOST when all the other races went for Republicans BIG.
