Favorite players to watch - NIU007 - 05-16-2020 04:50 PM

Since there's no football and we're not even sure there will be, I thought I would amble down memory lane and see which players NIU fans thought were the most fun to watch. Obviously this depends on how long you've been watching the Huskies. For me:

Wolfe, Lynch, Harnish, Turner the Burner, Leshon (love that you only need the first name), Stacey Robinson, and Sutton Smith, more or less in that order. I'll add Jordan Huff at 6.0 ypc though I wish he'd gotten more carries. Oh, and I almost forgot - Diesel.

Also a shout out to the WRs that Harnish/Lynch threw to who were very dependable - Daron Brown, TLL, Napalm, Martel Moore and Perez Ashford.

Very much hoping a couple current players will be in this pantheon in a couple years.

Go Huskies!

Surprised Mr. Bobo didn't have an NFL career. But he did impress in the spring game.

Beyond the obvious choices, I enjoyed watching Huff, Akeem Daniels , Agrerous Turner, and Jamal Anderson.

After all the usual suspects, by all time favorite huskie was Josh Haldi

Garrett Wolfe. For me, I’ve never had more fun watching an NIU player than Garrett Wolfe clowning #1 Ohio St for 285 yards at the Horseshoe.

I wear a red #1 jersey and still get Garrett Wolfe comments, as recently as last year at Vanderbilt!

Yep, he's still my favorite. Still have a Wolfe for Heisman T-shirt.

Wolfe, Lynch and Turner.

Wolfe ... but let us not forget Stacey Robinson. He didn't get us to the BCS Orange but imo he could give Lynch a run for the money (pun intended).

Yea he's in my list too. He was underrated considering how well he ran the offense. And his speed.

Going back a few years, Tim Tyrrell was the real deal. Led the Huskies to a pre-division MAC title (1983) as well as a postseason bowl win. He produced plenty of key first downs and touchdowns, and always seemed to make the right decision. And wouldn't it have been fun to see George Bork tearing up at Glidden Field in 1963?

Can't forget Jimmi Ward. Intercepting Iowa, while wearing a cast, late in the 4th Quarter which led to a game winning field goal. He always seemed to make the right plays at the right time.

Kenny deserves more credit. He was making adjustments to awful Graham passes.

Thomas Hammock, Michael Turner and that entire era 2001-2003 teams. Doug Free, Jimmy Ward, and the many, many players that poured their heart and souls into HUSKIE Football.
