NTR - Agent Asks Zion To Admit They Were Paid To Go To Duke - Stammers - 05-12-2020 03:23 AM

This isn't like Lance Thomas getting a $100,000 loan while at Duke and paying off the jeweller to go away. This involves tens of millions of dollars, and the company is suing for $100 million.

Nothing will happen to Duke and the piece of **** ferret, but it will still be interesting to see this all go down. The agent is for sure aware of what happened at Duke.

Zion Asked To Admit He Got Illegal Benefits

Coach K and others will for sure be deposed

The reason why they are asking him to make the admission isn't discussed in this article. The standard agent contract has to have a clause in it warning the prospect that signing the contract will make them ineligible to return to school. This was not stated in Prime's contract and is apparently the out that Zion and CAA used. Prior to signing with CAA, Zion hinted about maybe returning to Duke, which was obviously a stunt to show that he hadn't made up his mind, which would void the contract with Prime.

The reason why they are asking him to admit it, is that if he admits that he received improper benefits, it means that he was ineligible when he was at Duke, and having the clause was therefore irrelevant.

So since there are massive financial considerations at stake, one of 4 things will happen.

1. He will be forced to lie in court under oath
2. He will be forced to admit that his family received illegal benefits
3. He will be forced to make a HUGE payout to Prime with an NDA
4. He will be forced to honour his contract with Prime, who will in turn drop the lawsuit

Obviously, 1 and 2 would be the most fun.

This could get really good!

https://www.si.com/college/2020/05/11/duke-mike-krzyzewski-deposition-zion-williamson-lawsuit

“We are setting depositions as we speak,” said attorney Alvin Pittman. “We can assure you that we are about to hit the road of discovery like you wouldn’t believe.”

Asked specifically if they intend to depose Krzyzewski, the winningest coach in men’s NCAA Division I basketball history, fellow attorney Willie Gary said, “We are leaving no stones unturned, if you get my message.”

Even though this is a very serious issue, it is nice to see the addition of comedic elements to break the tension.

Quote:Williamson’s family relocated from Spartanburg, S.C., to Durham, N.C., while Zion was a college student. Sources previously told Sports Illustrated that the NCAA investigated the family’s living arrangement in Durham.

On Sunday, Duke referred to its statement from January 2020 regarding investigations of Williamson’s amateur status during the 2018–19 season: “As soon as Duke was made aware of any allegation that might have affected Zion Williamson’s eligibility, we conducted a thorough and objective investigation which was directed by individuals outside the athletics department. We found no evidence to support any allegation. Zion thrived as both a student and an athlete at Duke, and always conducted himself with integrity and purpose.”

One of the main skills they must teach at Duke is how to BS your way through life. That is some high quality stuff right there.

If he admits to getting extra benefits he could open himself up to tax evasion charges. So he takes 5th and not answers.

This is a money grab by a shunned former agent. It'll never go to court and a sum of money will be paid to make this go away quietly. Plain and simple money grab.

Yeah, but the light was flipped on, and the roaches were surprised and scattered...so now it is known that they are there...that does not go away...

The plaintiff will receive a settlement to end litigation before any depositions.

All true.
But I’m pretty sure everyone already knew there was an infestation.

Nothing substantive will happen to any bb program from Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, or Kansas. They are basically untouchable.
