I believe they will start on time. After Independence Day fall practice will begin.

Fall 21, but then COVID-20 will be unleashed on us, so maybe Fall 23 or 24

As long as everything will be back to normal by 2025, that will be fine. I mean, who in their right minds would want to miss the big opener against Holy Cross?

NIU's next game will be at Bobby Dodd, hopefully at night. See everyone in Atlanta.

LOL , 25 should be the target! We need Rudy to throw out the first football for that ground breaking game.

Where is the "I have no idea" option?

Because...I have no idea. I can hope and wish, but I honestly have no idea. It's not a state thing, it's a national thing and I would think one state could hold up the entire process.

True. “No idea” would have captured 90% of the vote so I wanted everyone to have to pick something.

I hate to disappoint you, but STF has already said that he will be throwing out the first football at the Holy Cross game. He will be accompanied by his donors who each donate a minimum of $50K, and they will all stand together holding the ball for an historic photo op.

Rudy? If you are thinking the guy from Notre Dame, he attended Holy Cross in South Bend which is an NAIA school that doesn't play football. The Holy Cross we are playing is located in Massachusetts.

FYI, Holy Cross played in the 1946 Orange Bowl and lost to Miami 13-6. They may be FCS, but they do have a football history.

Because Holy Cross is a hot commodity you have to jump on top of before they’re gone. That’s why this game was announced 5 years ahead of time.

RE: POLL:College Football will Kick-off when? - dogdangit - 04-27-2020 06:44 PM

2019 Attendance Figures:
NIU - 8,518
Holy Cross - 8,413

Neither school would really be considered a "hot commodity"

Its not, not a least like we it was.
All U's will be in survival mode. Most will drop sports. Eventually the big guys will last a while on TV revenue but cant survive without fans in stadiums.
Will be interesting....

Right now all fall sports are in danger of not happening. Wonder is scholarships will be reduced going forward.

RE: POLL:College Football will Kick-off when? - pvk75 - 04-28-2020 10:30 AM

Good to have a count on another meaningful issue ... but just wondering ... how many responses are what we want to happen, and how many are realistic?

If the covid-19 curve flattens out with summer heat, it is also projected that it could resume in the fall with the return of cold and flu season. Shutting down in mid-season would be worse than not starting up at all ... think of the massive blame game that would be played.

So ... 2021 is the best bet. I would say fall because it would be more "normal" and give teams the usual spring prep.

And even if sports do return, I may not. This morning, I talked to a co-worker who has COVID-19, as do her parents who live with her. I will spare you the description of what that family is going through - including isolation and hospitalization. You may not die, but you'll wish you were dead (unless you get a very mild case).

For the folks not taking this thing seriously, please re-think your position. As a financial person, I realize that the economy needs to get back to some sort of normalcy. But that doesn't mean you need to run out to every store, get together with lots of people, and party like hell.

I am very thankful for Gov. Pritzker. And I am a staunch Republican. Things may not be better even at June 1. But, no matter what, I plan on getting used to the inside of my home for quite awhile. I am high risk and will not leave my life to chance.

My employer is great and agrees that those of us who are in the high risk categories can work from home as long as is necessary. My boss and I are both high risk.

Well said Dog Fan I agree with all...now will you go back to the PB Grotto when it reopens?

This is crazy to think about, but is it possible we have already seen our last NIU game as FBS program. Who knows what landscape will be in fall of 2021
