2020-21 Roster - RodShaw2 - 04-26-2020 08:50 AM

Might as well talk about next year.
Here is next year's updated roster
Lots of talent, my biggest concern is the middle.
Replacing Lucas, Joe, and Jeromy.
I would love to be wrong but I don't think Corley is
the answer and don't have much behind.
Athletic but undersized.

Patrick Good 6'0 G Sr
David Sloan 6'0 G Sr
Daivien Williamson 6'2 G Jr
Bo Hodges 6'5 G Jr
Ledarrius Brewer 6'5 G Jr
Jalen Johnson 6'6 G Sr

Vonnie Patterson 6'4 F Sr
Demari Monsanto 6'6 F Fr
Ty Brewer 6'7 F Sr
Silas Adheke 6'8 F Sr
Paul Smith 6'8 F Fr
Charlie Weber 6'9 F So

Octavion Corley 7'0 C Sr

Jeff Goodman, speaking with Bobby Rader this afternoon on the radio, said that there is now a significant amount of push back on the NCAA 's same year transfer proposal owing to the pandemic. The thinking by some is that things need to get closer to normal before such a waiver is considered, pushing the decision into next year. I am not quite sure why that should be the case. Either it is a proposal with some merit or it isn't. It sounds as if some groups with a bias against the proposal are suggesting that to consider it now would amount to a sort of pandemic hysteria, rushing to a decision under duress. That doesn't make much sense to me and ignores the months long consideration by various sub-groups of the NCAA.

If a coaching change happens at this late date and the NCAA allows the one time transfer rule to go into effect for the next season....
I believe this roster will look totally different come basketball season.

Several have already used their transfer so who do you think would be leaving?

RE: 2020-21 Roster - Stateman - 04-29-2020 02:25 PM

Without a coaching change no one. This group is well stocked for a run at the SoCon championship.

yeah I got that, I assumed you would know I met if he did leave.

As I said many have already transferred once.

Good, Both Brewers, Sloan, Johnson and Adheke

That is 6 guys.

2 JUCO's that I honestly don't see going higher (Paterson and Corley)

That leaves 5 guys I guess I could see Hodges and Williamson getting a chance at a bigger program. Other 3 are unproven so don't see them going higher.

RE: 2020-21 Roster - shampoo - 04-30-2020 01:02 PM

Do we expect the incoming transfers to arrive, or do they get a release due to the coaching change and follow Forbes or go elsewhere? I guess it really depends on who the next head coach is. Kinda hope Shay stays, the team stays mostly intact minus 1-3 transfers, and we do a bigger search the year after, if Shay crashes & burns. If we can’t land a homerun hire (who’s really batting?) I don’t want to take a chance on rebuilding from square one right away.

Brewer, Sloan, Johnson, Adheke...and consider Smith as incoming FR

I don’t think Good is going anywhere with an infant. Worst case he graduates and ends his college career?

Williamson might go and sit the year, could make sense for him & family.

Bo is the best talent/prospect but would also sit a year. Who is he more loyal to, Forbes or The Bucs?

Just curious about source? Hodges doesn't have this on his twitter and 247 transfer portal doesn't list him in it, although it could be a bit behind.

Never mind, see that WCYB is the source and they hint that there will be more transfers.

I hope the the program does not completely fall apart because of this hire.

It is NOT the hire, it is Forbes leaving, that breeds uncertainty, one block falls others will wobble, do you really think a coach for outside the program would have better luck keeping players? Really?

RE: 2020-21 Roster - ETSUfan1 - 05-07-2020 07:07 PM

That's why it was important to do a nationwide search. Just hoping that Shay could keep the team together was not enough.

That is why due diligence should have included determining if the players would play for the new coach. The players here know the coach better than anyone and if they decide to leave then it is scary. Nobody wanted to leave until the hire was made. Let us hope it works out and we can keep talent.

Maybe so but the players stayed until they found out who the coach will be. We always want to remain optimistic but this does not sound good.

Huh??? I am confused. I didn't say anything about just hoping Shay could keep the team together. I said he would have the best chance of doing that. I am well aware
we need a lot more than that. I was addressing one thing.
