NFL Draft - Lopes87 - 04-18-2020 05:28 PM

What school will have more players picked in the draft?

DSU?

TSU?

NMSU?

RE: NFL Draft - wisdomgymrat - 04-18-2020 05:37 PM

TSU

RE: NFL Draft - Itinerant Texan - 04-18-2020 06:25 PM

Wait, NMSU has a football team?

NMSU has a running back, Jason Huntley, that had a great pro day, running a 4.37 forty and had a 39.5" vertical jump. He rushed for over 1,000 yards last season and I have seen his name pop up as a possible late round pick. Tarleton has a cornerback that some teams seem interested in, but the Tarleton Pro Day was canceled due to coronavirus, so that will probably hurt him. Tarleton had a player drafted in the 5th round last season, linebacker EJ Speed. He played with the Colts last season.

About as successful as GCUs basketball team. A D2 football fan and a GCU fan who talks smack about football is hilarious. I guess GCU fans have to fall on that since we biitchslap them every year in a sport they are probably spending twice as much on.

NMSU football when doing comps to WAC basketball teams would be slightly better than Chicago St but not as good as UMKC. If NMSU football was as successful as GCU basketball NMSU athletics would be in the MW or CUSA and the WAC would have UTEP or SJSU instead.

NMSU football has been hapless for many many years but just two years ago NMSU was in a bowl beating a MWC with a crowd of 30000 fans who traveled. GCU basketball lost AT HOME to D2 Davenport who lost by 40+ in the game before that to another D2 team so whatever floats your boat my friend.

You really are sensitive today, dancing. Literally the only thing I said was "I like this guy."

I’m OK with smack talk, but I will say the first thing that I’ve seen kill boards is when things start to turn personal. It may just be me, I guess.

No smack talk from me when it comes to football.

GO AGGIES!!!

Ok guys. Reality. I have a very great life and successful career thanks in part to my NMSU education. Sorry if I’ve ruffled to many feathers. If any of you ever come to Cruces to watch your team I will buy your tickets for you and a beer. I’m a donor and booster, decades season ticket holder. The ones getting “sensitive” are you guys! Good grief! Private message me if you ever need a hook up if you come to town.

Ok... my bad I will take down the post.

RE: NFL Draft - Itinerant Texan - 04-19-2020 02:57 PM

So I did a lilttle scouring of the interwebs...

Camron Lewis, WR, 6'1 185 - actually got in a pro day, caught the ball well and ran a blistering 4.28 40...I repeat: a 4.28 40. That will not go unnoticed. Stock is rising.

Zimari Manning, WR, 6'0 200 - no pro day, recovering from foot injury. This dude was all-world at the D2 level, damn near won the Harlon Hill trophy (D2 Heisman)..his tape alone should get him a hard look.

Prince Robinson, DB, 5'10 190 - no pro day, but his draft stock has been steady for the past 2 years as a late round prospect. Pick-6 machine. As somebody else already mentioned, the Houston Texans really like him.

Jai Edwards, Safety, 6'0 200 - no pro day, but his brother is Carson Edwards of the Boston Celtics and Purdue hoops lore. While others haven't been able to get in workouts, he's been getting in gyms and killing it, and filming it. Looks like bro's connections are helping his stock rise. All that aside, I watched this guy completely take over a couple of games last year. To me, he's the most pro ready of the bunch. Heavy hitter and instinctive nose for the football.

Long Shot/FA/CFL:
Ben Holmes, QB, 5'9, 200 - All-everything at Tarleton. 23-2 record as a starter. Actually had a pro day at Buffalo University. Killed it as far as throwing, but officially measured a measily 5'9. He says he measured 5'11, but it was actually 5'9. Toronto of CFL claimed his negotiating rights, so there is a path for him to keep playing.

Dont man! I'm good. Having you guys in the conference is so much better than having Bakersfield and UMKC. I like having Dixie State too. I'm hoping the long term plan is you guys along with some other teams moving up decide its feasible to have FBS football teams. Would love to see the WAC with FBS teams again. The WAC per NCAA rules holds that card still. Its like our AD said in an interview, its like owning a liquor license. Its a big deal for Hurd and the WAC to still hold that card.

I like you gleadley!!!! Thanks again for offering me your ticket to the GCU/NMSU game. I just couldn't make it. In retrospect should have gone. I was deciding between that trip and Vegas. Hindsight 20/20.

When Tarleton gets set I may take you up on that offer.

As expected, Prince Robinson on Houston Texan's radar as a late rounder..

RE: NFL Draft - NotANewbie - 04-25-2020 02:43 PM

Jason Huntley going to the Chicago Bears in Round 4. CORRECTION: Round 5 to Detroit.

Nice to see another NMSU player getting a shot at the big time.
