Well, I think if you cut the guy a break and keep his original point in context, college students are far more likely to be harmed from doing stupid college kid things than covid19.

It's not like he said that there are currently 100,000 kids walking around college campuses in Ohio with laced marijuana that will kill them.

Cataclysmo likes to argue with everyone, especially himself in the mirror. He actually is a closet Sucknut fan that has UK tendencies. If he actually went to a game - he would be easy to spot with his blue and white Richie Farmer jersey underneath his sweater vest.

"Clown" used to be Bulldog/Bearcat01's favorite insult. Anyone know what ever happened to that guy?

A lot of points in this article have been discussed in this thread or elsewhere on Banter but it's interesting to see this discussed about p5 schools (realizing the p5 conference being referenced in the article).

Why a shortened or canceled college football season could have cataclysmic effects on athletic departments nationwide

Play 12 games with no byes starting 9/19 ending 12/5 and conference championships 12/12 with no bowls till 12/26

Now run off and catch the new hi def version remake of Reefer Madness. Seems like perfect Covid viewing for you.

Have you driven through Dayton lately? Talked to the strung out crowds that live under the overpasses?

Might want to take a drive north.

They're strung out homeless junkies... on weed?

Starts with weed laced with fentanyl and progresses to heroin laced with fentanyl....Of course...if you're all for total legalization, this shouldn't bother you a bit.

I, in fact, support total legalization of ALL narcotics in order to drive down the street price and remove the crime element...the caveat to this is that I DON'T support the tax-funded re-hab of those who sicken or die from it. It's all about personal liberty...your liberty to choose suicide, and my liberty to choose not to save you from such a rotten choice with my hard-earned $$.

More an more drugs on the street level are being mixed with fentanyl (meth for one). I have come across weed being "soaked" in it. Something like weed isn't physically addictive now is. I don't claim to know how wide spread it is but i have seen it first hand at work.

My $0.02 from someone who sees it a lot. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it would solve many problems in this country and free us substantial the money on the "war on drugs" and prison for more useful problems.

NCAA just voted down the proposal to relax the restrictions on sport counts for FBS institutions...I'm thinking that might have some schools starting to consider a move down the FBS. Maybe the MAC decides to do something they probably should've awhile ago to stabilize the financial well-being of its member institutions and the growing understanding that they cannot compete.

Would a one year move of FB to spring work?

Fall is basically Sept, Oct, Nov

Spring weather of March, Apr, May is similar weather in reverse.

This would provide an additional 6 months to develop treatments.

Bowl games would be in June.

You can't take one month off and then play another entire season.

In my view if you play a spring season you basically play an 8 or 9 game season of only conference games. Make the independents join a conference for one season with a 16 team tournament to end the year. Autobids for conference winners. I also think if college sports are played this year you will see school sitting out for safety reasons as well.

There are just so many obstacles to playing college football that don't exist in the pro sports scenarios. I expect to see all the major pro sports play regardless of the facts on the ground because money talks.

Big differences in my view that hurt college football's return.
1. 130 FBS teams vs 30 something teams in pro leagues.
2. Pro athletes get paid vs colleges athletic department get paid and not the students.
3. Will students be on campus?
4. Pro sports can play in one or two states with various locations, you can't do that with college football.
5. Pro sports without fans seems realistic and maybe even a fun TV experience, college football without fans seems like a money grab sellout and really bad look for school administrators.

If we can get a medical solution by early 2021 then I can see college basketball coming back and maybe a spring college football season. I would love to see a fall college football season but its reckless to think this situation will be safe by then. I probably won't go to games until their is a treatment or vaccine. Will I watch from home, heck yea. I want sports back but I just think the process to get college sports back is much harder than pro sports.

IIRC, one of the proposals for Spring football looked at a shortened season. If it means modifying the following Fall season in order to protect player safety AND save institutions from finanical ruin then something will get done to achieve BOTH objectives.

One thing people forget about a spring season is that also will replace spring practice.

Nebraska announced that it will be opening campus up for Fall semester. And as you can read from this article, so have many other schools including P5 North Carolina State, Iowa, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Wake Forest.

There are many schools that are quoted as "leaning" towards opening in for the Fall semester, including that school in Columbus.

If students are on campus, you can bet football will be played.

The way its trending, I think there will be football with heavy precautions in place this fall. Perhaps even without fans.

If the reopening efforts are fumbled or we see a season uptick in cases toward the end of summer, you can forget about it.
