Well, he quit his high school team. He quit his AAU team. He quit his college team.

The big knock on Wiseman all along was his heart and motivation.

Kind of hard to want to lock yourself into a player who is a known and proven quitter.

RE: Some James Wiseman NBA Draft Rumors - gusrob - 04-02-2020 01:12 PM

In a vacuum, why wouldn't Golden State want a 7' kid who can spread the floor, a la work well in their offense and provide a rim protector?

May be something to the idea that JW is labelled a quitter and his motivation is questioned. However, do not base this (or other feelings) based on what front offices say and do leading up to the draft. No GM wants everyone knowing their thoughts going into draft. If they can get their guy later, they will. They do not want to create buzz around their targets.

He quit his high school team after graduation, what a quitter. He quit Memphis because he didn't want to pay $11,500 to the NCAA.

Link? I haven’t read anywhere he would have to pay the NCAA.
Btw he would have had 4 yrs to pay that to any charity of his choice.

He quit because he did not want to sit, it was not over $11,500 that would go to a charity and not the NCAA... Dude is about to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

All he did was sit through the trip and the exhibition games. Sitting was a great situation for him. He barely had to play any games, barely had to risk injury. He could have made his mark in 20 games.

Oh thats right, he started playing at East as a freshman and played all 4 years at East... or he didnt...

And I am sorry to hear that you are one of the 3 people on the entire planet who thinks he quit over 11.5k.

yep. He quit on his team, his coaches, his chosen school, Tiger fans, and...ME! When the going gets tough, Wiseman gets going.

Honestly the warriors play small and like to spread the floor so it makes sense them not wanting a true center or a non shooting guard

He quit on Ensworth. He quit on his college teammates who he mostly recruited. I think it's fair to question James team orientation vs selfishness. I think it is also fair to question his mental toughness.

James is very talented but his biggest problem may (or may not) be between his ears but there is reason to be concerned especially if you are trying up 25 million or so on his initial contract.

That said I think GSW are putting on their poker face.

Poor fellow might have gotten hurt if he played in 20 games.

Screw the team, teammates, city and fans, locally and nationally, just cash in a couple of months early. Really raise some possible character issues.

I like James but I really hope his decision costs himself a few draft slots. That will equal a few million bucks. Very short sighted of he and his family.

He also cost himself untold branding opportunities by quitting unless he can get Gus Fried Chicken or KFC to sponsor him.

He was a hired gun at Ensworth. I’m sure he felt significant bias there. Fortunately, his height made it so that they couldn’t literally look down their noses at him.

Too bad he doesn’t have the mentality of Zion. I hate to say it but JW definitely quit on his teammates, coaches and us as fans.

Got a scholarhsip and quality education at Ensworth. Then literally became a $11,500 hired gun at East. A tech school.

Yes, I’m sure Ensworth costs less than $11.5k / year. I’m sure the snotty rich white kids welcomed him graciously into their social circles.
