For me for the last week and a half, its been the Partridge Family. David Cassiday singing, "I think I love you." After a week and half, I think I like the song. Unless you are my age or a little older, you probably have no idea who the Partridge Family are or have heard the song. I don't even remember where or how the song got in my head.

But if any of you want to risk it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb4FMn-IWEY

For me Bullet that song is only appropriate when I'm thinking of Susan Dey.

I was quite fond of her then!

Among my friends if you had a crush on Laurie Partridge you had to take a number. She was still a cutie on L.A. Law. Of course it was easy to have a crush on Shirley Jones as well. Especially if you remembered her from her role as Lulu Baines in Elmer Gantry. But in that movie it was Jean Simmons that takes the prize.

But to be quite honest my first crush ever was on Annette Funicello and my second was on Nancy Kwan. After that it got predictable Donna Douglas, Dawn Wells, Elizabeth Montgomery, and Barbara Eden. By the time Susan Dey hit the screen it was almost like robbing the cradle, almost.

Not that Susan Dey ever did this but this whole discussion reminds me of the J.Geils band, "Centerfold".

I liked Dawn Wells AND Tina Louise. Elizabeth Montgomery and Barbara Eden were a little old for me at the time although I watched the shows. Now Grace Lee Whitney (even though she was actually older than the other two, she played a young character), definitely. And Susan Dey, and among the younger ones-Maureen McCormick (I was a kid then-not robbing the cradle).

Went and saw Dokken a couple of weeks ago with Lynch Mob a week before they shut everything down. George Lynch played a few tunes at the end. Great show. Don was slow but sang them all. Had neck surgery and woke up paralyzed. Right arm and hand is bad now. Great show.

I chose to post the lyrics instead....#apropos

Quote:They used to tell me I was building a dream
And so I followed the mob

When there was earth to plow or guns to bear
I was always there right on the job

They used to tell me I was building a dream
With peace and glory ahead

Why should I be standing in line
Just waiting for bread?

Once I built a railroad, I made it run
Made it race against time
Once I built a railroad, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once I built a tower up to the sun
Brick and rivet and lime
Once I built a tower, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell
Full of that yankee doodly dum
Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell
And I was the kid with the drum

Say, don't you remember, they called me Al
It was Al all the time
Why don't you remember, I'm your pal
Say buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, ah gee we looked swell
Full of that yankee doodly dum
Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell
And I was the kid with the drum

Oh, say, don't you remember, they called me Al
It was Al all the time
Say, don't you remember, I'm your pal
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Jr, I'm certain you and others will understand why the bold text stands out in my mind.....

It's a great song.

Big Rock Candy Mountain is about freebies.
Brother Can You Spare a Dime is a solid ballad about the forgotten heroes of the middle class when Corporations are done with them and so is the nation.
Load up the lazy with freebies, break the middle class, and then everybody will get a new Khaki Uniform, new jobs working on infrastructure and civic projects to get them physically fit and that uniform will be traded in for one more military in nature and then they become the brown shirts of Globalist Enforcement. I thought the Horst Wessel would be appropriate at that point. No crusade for racial purity, just one for corporate conformity. Seig Heil!

The brilliant understatement is the switch from "Brother" to "Say Buddy" to just "Buddy."

This piece has an audio clip of Yip Harburg, who wrote those lyrics, singing it and then explaining some of his intent:

For a lot of people who lost their job, I'm guessing the song is "Sitting on the dock of the bay."
