In addition to the great Creekmur there was another W&M graduate on those championship Detriot Lion teams
of the 1950s....fullback Bill Bowman, "Bullet" Bill Bowman '54. He started and played on all those teams and was
a great runner and blocker.
In the tradition of great William & Mary student-athletes, Bowman retired early from the NFL, went back to law school and became an outstanding prosecutor in, I believe, his home state of Tennessee.
Bill played for the memorable Iron Indians of W&M in 1953, playing sixty minutes a game as fullback and defensive halfback.
