Mayor Lets Citizens Have It In Facebook Post In Warning To Stay Home, ‘Listen Up Dips - CrimsonPhantom - 03-26-2020 12:27 PM

Well, that’s one way of putting it. At least he didn’t threaten people with flamethrowers like the Italian mayor.

Quote:A Kentucky mayor resorted to profanity to get his warning on the coronavirus across to constituents.

Walton Mayor Gabe Brown posted a message of warning to residents on a Facebook group page Monday, asserting their families may die from COVID-19 if they don't practice social distancing.

“Listen up dipshits and sensible people. I might not have the best bedside manor. I might not put you at ease like the Governor does, but I don’t care. You need to realize that this is a serious ordeal. In fact, it’s a big f**cking deal. Stay at home,” Brown began his post.

"Take it seriously. It is here. Act like you have the virus and don’t spread it to other people. I have no doubt that it hasn’t already been here, but testing had been limited. More cases are coming. If you ignore this problem, the worst thing that could happen is that your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles could die. Be responsible. If you don’t, then screw you," he continued, signing off with "warmest regards."

The Facebook post has since been shared more than 2,500 times and has gained more than 3,000 positive reactions.

Just checking: is 'dipshits' a whaaaaacist word?

This is the panic inciting rage that is not helpful whatsoever.

It has been brought to my attention that I may have, in fact, lost my $#it. For that, I apologize. I probably could've handled all of your comments with a little more tact and professionalism.

Then again some of you got told what you should've.

Wash your hands you filthy animals.

Disagree. He's just saying act like you have it to protect your family and others.

You can have it and if not symptomatic, still do many/most jobs.... still spend limited time in stores getting food or whatever, even if you are symptomatic.

I mean, it's gregarious commentary, but he's not wrong. It's only wrong to assume that you can't still function. I'm working from home... have been for weeks now... and will soon drive down to see my elderly mother recovering from cancer surgery. Because I am also driving my son, I will isolate myself and won't enter her house for 2 weeks, and won't hug her for 2 weeks. If I do hug her (she's tough as nails and will probably insist on it) I will have on gloves and a mask and insist that she does as well. I will make her grocery runs for her... wearing gloves, leaving them outside her door... putting my bags inside 'her' bags and she will collect the goodies wearing gloves and wash anything that can be washed, including cans.

That's the sort of thing this guy is suggesting. It's extreme, sure... but figure it out. I'm not taking even a 0.02% chance of harming my mother if I can help it through fairly simple actions.

While I dont agree with him that this is as big of a deal as he thinks. I do like people that say what the mean and not what a politician is going to say...

because you must "act like one". What ever in hell that suppose to mean, about like act like a president. How about "act like the person you where when you got elected". Be real to yourself and not the way the last person (who lost) acted.

Fair... It's just blunt to me, 'don't (continue to be) be stupid', not inciting panic

Anybody who wasn't paying attention to him before is paying even less now.

He was just doing an out of control rant. Totally counterproductive.
