One of the more reasonable things he's ever done.

Seems reasonable enough. Maybe a little light on some details and I think a national testing approach would be preferred or atleast nationally facilitated. We'll need a lot of testing to get to phase 2 & 3 and don't need states in competition with each other to procure tests.

Should go ahead and start a slow reopening. The stores that are open are freaking packed, went by Target and just keep driving, it's crazy. I guess it's people with checks in hand, wanting to spend. One of our kids is making twice with unemployment, than she was working. Now she's at the low scale and lives very modestly.

I was thinking everyone needs to be careful and at risk people need to be extra careful. The days of buffets, salad bars, Sweet Frog, anyplace where you serve yourself is over as we know it. So if you want to be safe you can stay home and take no risk. If you want to venture out, it's on you. What if places like beauty parlors could offer face masks that you keep. I just bought 50 for $15. But we can be smart about this and if you are sick, stay at home. This is much different position than I had three weeks ago. I just don't think they can keep people inside for another month. On the flip side I have a mother in a retirement home and that scares me to death. She's in excellent shape, but we know the risk they have.

What do you think the odds of this happening are?

Anyone see the breaking news from Louisville? It is tough to know what to believe, but can someone who is tech gifted attach the tweet to a post here? You can find it on the University of Louisville twitter page. Would love to get some opinions on the development.

That is an exciting development.

I was hoping the pills Trump was touting would be the fix but hopefully this one is. No one really has a timeline but i hope they will fast track it. Seems promising.

This could be a game changer to say the least. Nobel Prize anyone?

I haven’t had the chance to dissect it, but a lot of good data here: https://thehill.com/opinion/healthcare/494034-the-data-are-in-stop-the-panic-and-end-the-total-isolation

So, if I'm reading this right, just the right place at the right time? The aptamer was already developed for use against other diseases and just needed to be adapted? Talk about fortuitous!

ETA: My snark may hide the fact that I find this highly enouraging.

What's up with Harrisonburg? As many cases as VB with 1/10th the population

Hhhmmm.....when someone say 0.01 percent per 100,000 in an opinion piece I certainly wonder. What does that even mean? Percent already has a mathematical meaning, “per” is right there in the word you don’t need to add another. This is a week old.

I noticed that too. If you add in Rockingham County it’s about twice that. My parents live near there but have been at SML for over a month. We’re looking pretty good here in SWVA (knock on wood).

In other news my niece, 17 high school senior, lives in Henrico County and been going crazy obviously. Well, they’d been adhering to the stay at home order pretty stringently, both working from home, only go out for groceries and takeout once a week or so. They finally acquiesced to her pleas and let her hang out with just one friend. Apparently that one friend tested positive today.

And let's not forget that the primary point is to "flatten the curve" and not strain our medical infrastructure.

If millions of people already have the virus, the curve has already been broken. It means the flattening that you are seeing is happening organically. I am not sure that you realize it, but nearly half the deaths in the US occurred in and around New York. For most of the rest of the country, this looks a lot more like the flu than the nightmare that took place in NYC.

Potentially bad news about the studies that suggested more people had virus (stanford, santa clara). The antibody testing picks up on the coompn cold cersion of the coronavirus. . http://www.diazyme.com/diazyme-laboratories-inc-announces-availability-of-covid-19-antibody-tests
