As close a game as they’ve played all season. Great win by the ladies 64-63

Indeed. Real fun game to watch. Game had a really nice flow to it.

And as Super indicated, it was close all the way. A real 50 - 50 type game. Either team could have won.

Matter of fact, BSU had a chance at the end with 0.3 seconds.

Castro has this program on the rise, and they'll be even better next season! He's a great recruiter......

We had no seniors this first time in EMU athletics history.

And an excellent transfer sitout who had to sit out this season INJURED.

https://emueagles.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/toyosi-abiola/12418

Averaged over 10 PPG as a frosh at Iona.

Also remember, Combs had to sitout the first part of the season as a sitout.

This tournament run has been the first time I've been impressed with Coach Castro's in-game coaching.

I have never and will never doubt Castro's ability to recruit. The staff has put together quite a few highly-ranked recruiting classes in a row, including a few years as the best in the MAC. Just haven't been able to do much with that talent at times in the past. BUT! coming from behind in each of the two MAC tournament games and FINALLY getting that "close but not quite" monkey off their back from the quarterfinals is a great sign. The players have started to limit the amount of dumb fouls and, oddly enough, as their good players stay on the court more, the team gets better results! Weird.

Combs has been the best player on the court in every game she's played in this season. When we had Danielle Minot for the last two years you could watch and see why she went to Syracuse, but also why she transferred to a lower level. Combs is not on the same level. Every game I've watched I'm left wondering how she didn't transfer to another P5 school. She is so good. She'll have a real chance at the 1,000 point club in just two years, which is just unreal. She'll have a chance to climb the double-double record board too.

And I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a Twitter video of Abiola legitimately dunking last year when she was sitting out for the transfer rule but healthy. She's only 5'7"! Not sure she'll be able to do that anymore after the injury, but that won't matter: we won't need that.

Anyways! Glad the women are giving us some fun March memories. Hope they can keep it up!

Hard to argue with the results. A slow and steady rise out of Castro and crew. Done the right way.. Thats program we as EMU fans should be proud to watch! Better things in store for us next year as well. Have to be contenders for the league in 2020-21

Looks like an upward trajectory to me. Not a fan of improvement? Or do you just want instant gratification?

I'm not sure I agree.

Just plot the wins on a graph.:

MAC: 1, 6, 6, 9... that is a nice graph. PLUS add 2 tourney wins!!

Team will be much better next year.

I guess I just dont understand how you can argue against the improvement each year. But to each their own.

Yeah, WBB ended the season 11 - 9 in conference and MAC tourney play.

I consider making the semis a successful season.

Exactly. You see successful mid major coaches do it many different ways. There are some who bring in immediate help via transfers that elevate the program with an influx of talent.

There are some who build from the ground up with a deliberate process. Mixing in transfers and incoming freshman - or simply skipping the transfer route all together.

It doesnt matter how you do it, its just about the destination at the end. From my perspective, I see nothing to complain about. You have seen a steady climb in our competition level year in and year out, and on paper next year is our year.

Now, if that does not happen and we dont make a strong run at the conference next year - Then I will agree with much of what 79 says.

One thing I believe we need to keep in mind (I've mentioned this before).

After Verdi left there was transfers of two of the team's stars.

The next season, the 'cupboard was bare' and the team went 1 - 17. So to go from 1 - 17 to 11 - 9 is a very nice progress.
