Heard it said on local radio this morning that the NCAA post might have been premature and all data may not have been included. It was to be a test run and was posted in error with the initial info due next week.

In other words...

"we didn't like the fact that a G5 team was #1, and that four G5 teams were in the Top 25... and also that nearly half of the Top 50 was smaller schools... so let's see if we can tweak the formula by next week."

No ... the release date was always supposed to be next week and it got released a week early.

I like my idea on it instead... sounds juicier.

I don't expect the Cajuns to stay at number 1, but expect them to stay at lease in the top 5 and probably top 3. We've played a killer schedule and beat Ole Miss twice, split with LSU, Texas, and Oklahoma State, and beat Florida 2 out of 3 in Gainesville. Our other two losses are to North Texas who also beat Oklahoma and lost in extra innings to Texas and is getting votes in the top 25, and to Coastal this past Friday. We also play two games against Florida State and one against Alabama later in the year.

Well the Cajuns had a legit shot at winning a WCWS this season. Unfortunately this virus hysteria has resulted in the NCAA cancelling all spring sports championships.

Hysteria to the max. Not to understate the obvious that this virus is indeed dangerous to a portion of the population, but according to World Health Org, 80%+ of those infected will recover well.

A hefty reason for the cancellations have to do with liability, not so much public health. Keeping a tournament going while others are cancelling is a massive lawsuit waiting to happen, especially if a player gets COVID-19.

Can you imagine if the NCAA or CBI were to keep their basketball tournament going, and a few players get the virus? The legal repercussions would be absolutely enormous.

On Tuesday, when the Ivy League cancelled, the talking heads on ESPN were talking about how rash of a decision it was and how it robs the players of their dreams and at the very least they could play in empty arenas like some others planned to do.

On Thursday, when the Big East dragged their feet for a half of basketball before cancelling, the talking heads on ESPN were talking about how irresponsible and dangerous the Big East was to subject players and fans to those conditions.

The NBA started a free fall when Gobert tested positive and decided to cancel that basically forced the hand of every other league after 1 or 2 others followed suit.

So a 20% death rate of infected people is acceptable to you. Wow...let's just ignore it ok.

It's not a 20% death rate. Only 3.5% of those who have been infected around the world have died. The 20% represents those that would get a more severe illness because of their immune deficiencies... and those people would likely not be out partaking in these events anyway, or at the very least shouldn't if they had wisdom.

This virus is going to make its rounds no matter what we do. We're delaying the inevitable, and it's silly at this point to shut everything down. Every country around the world has been trying to prevent it from coming and it's not working.

Even when the U.S. was quarantining people from flights, cruise ships, etc., the virus still made its way through. Only 7 states at this point don't have a "confirmed" virus case, but most likely have an "unconfirmed" case somewhere... they just don't know it yet.

The point isn’t to completely stop it, that’s impossible. The point is to “flatten the curve” to stop a spike and keep the healthcare system from getting overwhelmed.

I don't know if Troy had a shot at the WCWS, but we certainly had a chance to make NCAA Regional noise. This was supposed to be a great year...
