TOURNAMENT MOJO - WMTRIBE75 - 03-07-2020 12:18 AM

So I am sitting at a major intersection in Virginia Beach this morning on my way to work with my radio tuned in to the 80’s on 8 on XM radio.. They are playing a sound bite from Al Michael’s call of the final minute of the USA win over the Russian hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympics, with his famous “Do you believe in miracles”. I immediately start thinking about the tournament and, low and behold, a Waste Management truck is sitting next to me with that Green & Gold W&M staring me in the face (JMU fans erupt in laughter at this point).

Then I get home and put the movie Hoosiers in the DVD player, as is my pre tournament ritual every year.. The high school that wins the Indiana state championship in the movie is Hichory, which happens to be the part of Chesapeake that we moved to last summer..

Finally, the coach of the Hickory team in the movie is Norman Dale, who had previously coached Ithaca College to a national championship. Guess who graduated from Ithaca College......Dane Fischer..

Okay people, work with me here!!

Without knowing where in Syracuse he's from, Google Maps says it's 67 minutes from Syracuse to Ithaca College. Jordan Roland is also from Syracuse, and Brian Fobbs is from Rochester and went to community college upstate before Towson. Upstate NY and downstate NY each produced 3 of the 15 players on the CAA teams, and no other state produced more than 2.
