2020 Football Schedule was released today

https://kentstatesports.com/news/2020/2/26/football-full-2020-schedule-unveiled-for-year-three-of-flashfast-era.aspx

Saturday Sept 5 at Penn State
Saturday Sept 12 vs Kennesaw State
Saturday Sept 19 at Kentucky
Saturday Sept 26 at Alabama
Saturday Oct 3 at Northern Illinois
Saturday Oct 10 vs Akron
Saturday Oct 17 at Buffalo
Saturday Oct 24 vs Western Michigan
Wednesday Nov 4 at Bowling Green ESPN2/CBS Sports
Wednesday Nov 11 vs Ohio ESPN2/ESPNU
Tuesday Nov 17 at Miami Ohio ESPN2/ESPNU
Tuesday Nov 24 vs Central Michigan ESPNU/ESPN+

3 Saturday home games, 1 Tuesday, and 1 Wednesday.

Akron is probably Homecoming, if not announced already.

Akron is listed as TSDTR on the Kent schedule. That school down the road. Haven't seen them list Akron like that before, but can't help but like it

4 of first 5 on road and 6 of first 9 ... not great
MAC never does us any favors with schedule.
Weeknight games in November , not very fan friendly. But hey KSU and
MAC care little about ticket holders.

Yea. I'm not amused. We hate Ohio State so much, but we are copying their traditions? Tacky.

Tuesday and Wednesday night games SUCK.
Who wants to freeze their ass off to see Central Michigan on a Tuesday night the 3rd week of November?
The MAC sold its soul to ESPN and in return gets crowds so pathetically small the cameras only show tight
shots of the stands for 3 hours.
Check out the schedules every other team in the MAC and no one plays the " money games" Kent does.
Alabama ! Penn State! and Kentucky.......... Ridiculous. Kent's AD is a MORON.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - AlphaFlash - 02-26-2020 08:45 PM

Will there be an increase to ticket prices next year?

I hear we scheduling Concord and Hiram in 2029. Be patient!!!

I suppose I have a different outlook on it. I hated them when those games were guaranteed losses. Now there's something to look forward to.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - Polish Hammer - 02-27-2020 08:30 AM

Don’t kid yourself, they still are guaranteed losses. No way they beat Bama or State Penn and Kentucky won’t be an easy one either. Kennesaw State is an FCS power that we obviously should beat but can’t be overlooked.

As an out of tower, the scheduling anymore has really made it difficult to keep coming back for games as much as I’d like. Home games in the conference schedule mean poor conditions combined with small crowds making it undesirable to sit through and the weeknight games means I have to take 2 days off from work for each game.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - Skinny Pete - 02-27-2020 11:26 AM

I'm with you Polish Hammer. The problem is ESPN needs 3 hour commercials for their Saturday SEC games.
That's what the MAC games on weeknights are all about.
I wonder how many of these weeknight ice bowls the commissioner of the MAC attends?
What makes it even worse are the clowns who run the athletic department at Kent.
I can see one brutal payday game but these morons have to double and triple down.
Look at the number of pay games on the other MAC schedules for next year.
They are realistic from a football perspective.
But not Kent, no we have to play Alabama AND Penn State then throw in Kentucky for good measure.
Alpha Flash I have no idea why you are looking forward to the Alabama and Penn State games.
No disrespect just curious.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - burden - 02-27-2020 01:13 PM

I really can’t get too excited over this especially now that the team is improved. We are in DI after all. Kentucky and Kenneese St. aren’t terrible and I think we all know why we play Alabama so frequently. It allows Saban to give his alma mater some money(without digging into his own pockets which I’m pretty sure the Alabama faithful would not like). I for one would love to see the basketball team play Duke and Indiana at Kent instead of Hiram and Concord. We would lose 99 out of 100 times but we would get to see a top notch program. The wrestlers bring B10 teams in, same with women’s basketball and gymnastics most years. I just pray we use the money wisely even though I have a feeling we don’t.

I do get excited over the ESPN stuff though. Tuesday night football is ridiculous. It’s funny how a station dedicated to college sports has done some much damage to them. It seems to find new and improved ways every year.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - GFlash68 - 02-27-2020 02:18 PM

This schedule overall, is terrible. I always like playing the big time programs, but not 3 back to back and with no desirable home games to attend. This schedule is a program killer.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - Muskrat - 02-27-2020 04:14 PM

Burden, I think almost all fans would rather see Duke and Indiana at Kent State. Fat chance of either ever coming here.

RE: 2020 Football Schedule - JimJoyce - 02-28-2020 12:52 PM

To me, the whole “I hate weeknight games they are so bad for the fans” argument went out the window last year when Kent finally got a Saturday home game in November on a great weather day and no one showed up.

+1

You know what I love the weeknight games in front of 250 fans jumping around like a fanatic trailing Buffalo by 21 points in the 4th.

At the Frisco Bowl, some of the cheerleaders came up to me and said them and players fed off that type of energy.

Learn to embrace the midweek games!

Go Flashes!
