Bobcat Stadium is certainly one of the nicest in the Belt, IMO, but there are several others also that are to be thankful for. Those that should be concerned are the ones with the blatantly worse venues.

Ladd was the biggest one to be concerned about. It's great for the league that USA is building a nice on-campus stadium.

With GSU and USA getting their own stadiums we're no longer using any rentals. That's a good thing.

Do you think we will have the field turf installed before the spring game at the outdoor practice field? Would be a good thing to show off after the spring game.

Who needs to upgrade their stadium next? I would like to see the rest of the Sunbelt stadiums. If we could get a game up in App at the right time of the year when the leaves are changing colors....

RE: Hancock Whitney Stadium - 2/21/2020 - CardinalBlackTrojan - 02-24-2020 10:48 AM

The Sun Belt and the MAC are the only G5 conferences to have all of their major sports facilities either on-campus or owned/not leased.

The only major sport Sun Belt facility not on-campus is the GSU Baseball Complex, and they'll be moving to near Georgia State Stadium soon.

I believe that ULL is early in the process of upgrading theirs. I'd say ULM needs upgrading the most, then Georgia Southern. After that I think everyone is in a good place stadiumwise.

We desperately need a new press box and suites. Other than that, I think our stadium is pretty on par with the rest of the conference.

Once, USA's stadium is completed, it'll be one of the nicest in the Sun Belt. That's for sure.

I'd say GSU needs to find the funding to continue all their phases of renovation and not just be content with what they have.

And ULM could use a facelift. Though I don't think anything's in the works as far as I know.

RE: Hancock Whitney Stadium - 2/21/2020 - kevinwmsn - 02-24-2020 10:24 PM

I've been to ULL and ULM a few times, but it has been a number of years. I guess going to Ladd for all those years didn't make other teams stadiums look bad.

UALR Baseball is not on campus. They play in a city park.

We’ve been waiting for over a year now for Cajun Field upgrades to be announced. Plenty of discussion on Ragin Pagin about it. Dr Maggard states it is his #1 priority. Primary change is supposed to be demolition of upper deck and new build there for press box/suites. Long overdue. Hope to hear something official this year. We’ll see ........

That would be a huge upgrade.

GS recently updated the existing suites

but more would be outstanding. The press box area is sub-par.

Not to be snippy but Paulson needs specifically what to make the leap to third worst stadium in the SunBelt in your opinion? Seriously take a look around and share your thinking. The second deck covers seats roughly matching the same footprint as above.

I admit that I've only seen ULs stadium from the road and never seen ULMs. This may be more in line with my thinking aesthetically. Photogenically GSs stadium takes a back seat to most. Texas state is on the right track. Second place IMO goes to GS. USA has a nice base but still may need to cover the erector set aesthetic when the time comes. I'll reference FSU's former erector set stadium that when the time came to blow it up nothing was preserved form the former stadium. UGA on the other hand has never had a complete redo. I personally like that approach. To each is own.

I mistakenly thought theirs was on campus.

Thanks UALR...
