Camera work - WMInTheBurg - 02-08-2020 07:34 PM

How about a fixed camera for the rest of the game? I don't care about anyone in the crowd while the game is being played.

RE: Camera work - WMInTheBurg - 02-08-2020 07:40 PM

Can somebody break the sideline cameras at halftime?

Couldn’t agree more - our camera work is embarrassing.

RE: Camera work - SEA33HAWK - 02-08-2020 09:10 PM

They show very little replays, including no reviews.

RE: Camera work - billymac - 02-08-2020 09:14 PM

A real shame. Your announcer is very good, very easy to listen to. Your producer, on the other hand, should never be allowed to touch the control board again. He is terrible. First thing I learned in my broadcasting classes was to never miss the action. He would have flunked out of that class.
I won't even get into the number of unnecessary crowd shots.

Good job by your team tonight, by the way.

How do you tolerate it twice a week? It makes me want to scream and I only watch one UNCW home game every year.

I didn't get to see most of your press tonight. The ball was stolen or across half court before the camera shots were back from the crowd.

I misunderstood this thread. I was at the game. So I was referring to the Jumbo Tron at the game. For some reason that will not show any replays of anything that might be controversial.
As far as Flo sports goes, I refuse to contribute to such a trashy deal made by our incompetent Commissioner.

I don’t think the production is on FS though right? Each school still does their own production I’m pretty sure.

We produced all the home games except UNC

Our production had gotten better but its not Northeastern level

RE: Camera work - billymac - 02-08-2020 10:49 PM

Tonight's was pretty close to high school level. You HAVE to show the game first, ...then your girlfriend.

It was OK when it was FREE. Now, not so much.

Is it a student led operation or is someone actually getting paid to do it?

Look, Tribe fans with a problem here, there’s… two kinds of dumb, uh… guy that gets naked and runs out in the snow and barks at the moon, and, uh, guy who does the same thing in my living room. First one don’t matter, the second one you’re kinda forced to deal with (UNCW message board).

I don't see a big problem with it myself. At UNCW, the crowd itself IS a big deal and it was homecoming. i always enjoy watching the students and the fans. And the Dance team needs attention too. There's room for all things as long as you see nearly all of the game with multiple replays and of course, during crunch time.

I’m gonna disagree Bill. I’ve seen a number of UNCW games, and never liked the amount of times they show the crowd, miss parts of the game and never show replays. That’s awful production, and not indicative of where we should be as a flagship basketball program for the CAA. Other schools seemingly have very professional production teams all the way down to sideline reporters. We have something that resembles a mediocre high school level production, aside from our announcing duo. They’re amazing.

Things like this are apparently contributing factors to why we didn’t go to a more pedigreed “firewall” in ESPN, etc. Apparently because some schools refused to upgrade their production. No word on which CAA schools those were, but IMO our production is embarrassingly not on par with others in the league.

I agree 100% with CG Hawk
I also am in 100% agreement. I don't enjoy watching the crowd performing for the camera.

They need to stop incorporating the crowd shots meant for the jumbotron into the broadcast of the game
