JMU - dan10 - 02-06-2020 07:38 AM

So Drexel returns home after our 3 game road trip and what a pleasant surprise in front of us. Our 3 game losing streak we now get to face arguably the worst team in the conference. JMU likes to get to the rim, which could be problematic, however we did well @JMU earlier to mitigate that and still leave victorious. There are not a ton of winnable games remaining, but this is one of them. In fact if we intend on avoiding the play in round, this is really a must win. Beating Delaware would have given us some nice cushion and a tiebreaker, but this is a game that has to be won or else we might as start preparing for the first round. Drexel is more talented than JMU. Drexel is at home. JMU probably thinks they are good after their blowout win over UNCW. Time for a reality check. Let's win this one going away.

Vegas: Drexel -6

JMU- 61
Drexel- 72

Wow...I got home to no posts about tonight's game. Nice solid wire to wire win against a team that they should beat, especially at home.

Now were starting to see a little bit of distance in the CAA. COC and Hofstra are on winning streaks, while W&M is in a bit of a slump. And Drexel remains in 6th place after ending their 3 game losing streak tonight. However, Elon is on a bit of a streak, and Drexel is now just 2 game ahead of 8th place.
Drexel is a half game behind their next opponent, Towson. So Saturday's game is huge, and Drexel doesn't want to get swept against a team that they're fighting against in the race to finish in the top 6.

Realistically, if they want to hit .500 in the conference and show tangible progress, Saturday is a must-win. There's only three home games left, and if they drop this one, they have to either win two games on the road, or win one game on the road and beat Hofstra at home. Both much easier said than done.

Agreed on all fronts. Last night was a must win over a bad team. Saturday is incredibly important if we desire to finish at or above .500 in conference. Losing this game would make moving up in the standings more difficult as we would have dropped both to Towson. Our remaining 2 home games will be difficult, plain and simple. Winning at UNCW and Elon is no guarantee at this juncture but can be done. A split is required for .500 or better. Winning both would mean we can drop both to NU and Hofstra and still achieve that goal. One game at a time though. Continue playing well at home is what we need. Towson is still a bad matchup for us.

You had seven players score at least 8, and nobody scored 1 to 7. Banks and Wilson combined to shoot 5-19 without making a three and free throws 1-2.

You should hope that NU continues to struggle. Their next five are hard at Hofstra, hosting UNCW and Charleston, and at Delaware and you, before ending hosting JMU and Towson.

NU is interesting. Even with the Elon loss all of their games have been super close which means one of 2 things: 1. They don't know how to finish games 2. They are almost there but not quite

In either case NU is a team that can and likely makes a run because they figure it out. A team that is never out of a game is a dangerous one. Them sitting behind us in the standings being between a bye and the play in is terrifying to me. Coen is a great coach and close losses now likely mean wins late in the season or the tournament. I still think Drexel is fighting for 6th with Towson, not NU (after losing to Delaware and now Delaware beating Towson)
