And likely take a 1/2 to 2/3 pay cut.

RE: FB Class of 2022 - BearcatMan - 05-07-2021 12:00 PM

Kentucky math still werks gud....

Quote:Kentucky’s eight recruiting classes under the current staff are UK’s seven highest-rated groups in the history of the Rivals.com evaluation.

From a UK release about the '21 class.

you can't actually care about winning if you go to uk

And getting noticed if you want to play on Sundays. SEC set a record for draft picks. UK, for all the clowning they get, had 6 picks, including a first and second rounder. I'm not arguing that it's a good idea to play at UK but if it's down to privileged 5 vs non, I get why they would go with the former.

You sorta made the exact point I was making. It’s the conference.

Yeah...i read your post too quickly.

I'd love to pull Qaeshon Sapp out of Florida. Getting an official visit scheduled is a step in the right direction:

Believe his commitment date is in July as well.

RE: FB Class of 2022 - UCbball21 - 06-01-2021 10:36 AM

It looks like Luke Fickell and the staff did a midnight madness event last night on the first day of the new recruiting period. Pretty cool to see.

Not sure who all was there but I did see this video Chad Brendel posted on his YouTube channel of an interview with Luther Richesson, a 3-star QB prospect out of TN.

The video also shows a couple of throws including what looks to be a 50-yard bomb that he makes look easy.

If you had the money to afford a BCJ membership, you would have known this was brewing since his camp performance on Tuesday... 04-cheers03-lmfao

i wonder if this might end up being a case of a bird in hand vs. two in the bush?

Eh...Pugh seemed to be flirting with Illinois and Iowa for a long while. Truthfully, we've got A TON of people at WR right now, so I'm not super worried if he does leave, and I don't really know if it means we have more coming (though I think you may be right when it's all said and done). We have a STOCKED WR room, so it might just be a situation where the competition for PT wasn't what he wanted to deal with....I mean this is where we stand after this year just in scholarship guys remaining with NO other commitments:

Tre Tucker (1 year left)
Wyatt Fischer (1 year left)
Marquez Bell (2 years left)
Will Pauling (3 years left)
Jadon Thompson (2 years left)
Tyler Scott (2 years left)
Norman Love (2 years left)
Chris Scott (3 years left)
Blue Smith (1 year left)
Drew Donley (3-4 years left)
Quincy Burroughs (4 years left)

That's a whole lot of pretty highly recruited guys or guys who are already turning heads early. Not a situation some people like to sit down and look at when they have other options as HS Seniors

If the kid wants to stay "home" and play for Illinois, or go to Iowa and play, or sees a better path to getting on the field at either, I don't blame him...but he probably won't have as good of a team-success type situation at either of those schools.

Jadon Thompson has 3 years left. He was in the 2020 class, right?

A lot of these players could also choose to play an extra year as well.

Yes...I said after next year, which would be when Pugh would've enrolled.

Very disappointing. 6'4" WR's with good speed don't grow on trees. He was UC's 3rd highest ranked recruit thus far.

Ehhh...Illinois last finished above .500 overall when he was 7 years old, and was last above .500 in the Big Ten when he was 3 years old. I don't know about someone who willingly chooses that over a team competing for NY6 Bowls and potential playoff bids, especially when it seems he made the choice over one additional hour on an interstate. I have faith that we're going to be hearing good news on the pass catching front soon either way.

RE: FB Class of 2022 - Captain Bearcat - 06-25-2021 10:11 PM

Illinois does have a highly touted new coach though. Beliema could turn them around.

But it really chaps their a$$ if you ask Illini fans which coach did better: Brett Beliema in the Big Ten, or Tommy Tuberville in the SEC?
