No, they don’t have the academics to get in. If Boise is t permitted to rule the MWC roost they will go independent like BYU or affiliate with the AAC in football. They’d need to convince the Big Sky or WAC to take their olympic sports.

Boise doesn't need to convince the WAC. They can bully their way in because it still needs another member or two to feel safe. The Big Sky won't need to be convinced either; Idaho and Idaho State would love nothing more than to bring them back down to their level. The Montana's and EWU would accept them too.

I’m not sure any conference really wants to be rented short term. Nor do I think Idaho has any love for Boise and would be happy to keep them in a hard spot. Remember Boise’s move to decertify them as the state flagship university.

They're one vote. Unless a unanimous vote is required for invitations or Idaho runs the Big Sky like, for example, Texas runs the Big 12, they won't be able to keep Boise State out. They'd be too valuable a commodity for the rest of the conference to pass up. People would be talking about the Big Sky again. No one's talking about them now.

The West Coast Conference has no public schools but neither did the Big East before they took UConn. Boise State wouldn't compete with Gonzaga in men's basketball but they could probably compete with St. Mary's and BYU and raise the basketball profile of the conference and Boise isn't that far away from Gonzaga or Portland.

Not really the best example, as UConn was a founding member of the original Big East and was a member for its first 33 years, and that historical tie obviously had a big impact on their re-admittance this year.

Boise has four BSC titles in men's basketball they would be top third in enrollment and attendance. They fit the BSC except for football . Their similar to Portland St or NAU . Weber St and Montana would still be the top basketball programs .

Boise State moving Olympic sports to the Big Sky Conference seems unlikely as the Big Sky does not sponsor baseball.

I doubt that would be a deciding factor. Northern Colorado and Sac State sponsor Baseball, are WAC Affiliates.

I doubt Boise would want to be in the same conference again as Idaho and Idaho State is a much great issue for them.

But, Boise best option (as well as MWC's) is to get a deal done.
