Interesting. I wish ULM had an open forum to discuss it.

Agreed ... pretty bad that everyone hides behind a paywall.

He was excellent for the academic side of campus, even got us a med school, but horrible for athletics. We are pretty happy, but of course you never know who they replace him with.

Dude he leased classroom space to a private medical school which is unaffiliated with the actual university. More than Louisiana has, but Bruno didn’t “get” ULM a medical school. There will no M.D. issued with ULM on it.

RE: ULM President Announces Retirement - arkstfan - 01-24-2020 11:40 AM

We have a similar situation at AState with the medical school. There is no AState DO degree. The benefit beyond income is this. The school on our campus guarantees admission to any AState grad with the right grades in a select group of classes.

Previously in Arkansas if you wanted to go med school you went to Hendrix and if you couldn't get in or couldn't afford option two was either Lyon or UAF.

Now the smart play is go to AState. If you can get admitted to UAMS, you should go to med school there because it is much less expensive and has a great alumni network but if you miss out on the limited slots, you've got guaranteed admission on the AState campus.

VCOM (Medical school) also has satellite campuses at Auburn and Va. Tech.
ULM is also presently building a 360 bed residence facility (next to Malone Stadium) to accommodate both athletes and an anticipated influx of premed. / med. students

If you think that bothers me, you’d be mistaken. Real separation already exist, according to the State Legislature.

We had a president like that. Had no interest in Athletics, and his presidency years were basically the 10 years too long that we spent in 1AA. New president came in and we were FBS within 4 years.

Hopefully yall can land a more athletically-minded president this go round.

I sit here reading how other Sun Belt schools get rid of their AD's and Presidents and here we sit, languishing in mediocrity with the same old, same old.

The underlying tone is that no matter what ULM accomplishes the local paper craps on them. Also continued operation like that is not sustainable. Not even in the near term in a cash strapped state. Southland bound if that type of financial situation isn’t remedied.

They hired a Local Banker. It will only get worse with him in charge. But the Locals love the Locals.

We have to nail this Presidential hire.
