Players sitting out - blazerdave8 - 01-13-2020 08:07 AM

I am just curious on the players sitting out this year. I think I read somewhere that Koby Jeffries has joined the team and is practicing already. Also wondering if Rashawn Fredricks is still with the team and sitting on the bench at our games waiting to play next year. I am a big UAB fan but I am out of state and watch games on the internet anytime they are on. I think Eshan is doing a great job of recruiting and if the fan base remains patient I think we will get back to our glory years. In basketball it only takes a couple more pieces to change everything.

Jeffries is here and practicing. I saw him on the bench. I assume Fredericks went home for Christmas break and will be back this week.

Fredricks still appears in the pre game player video which is a good sign.

If you notice on UAB's men's site the team picture doesn't have Bryant or that player who left which is a sign that UAB in this case removes players no longer with the program.

Team has now gotten two good home conference wins in a row.
They can be quite fun to watch.

It's time to stop griping on Ehsan and get out and support this young group.

I bought the 4 tickets for $40 deal and used them last week and will use them at the next upcoming home stand.

I enjoyed the games last week and thought every player made great contributions.

Average attendance is 2,732. Drop out our only game with over 3,000 in the building, Memphis (5,041), and it drops to below 2,500 a game.

This should be a no-brainer decision for Mark Ingram/Ray Watts/UAB.

NCAA
NIT
Fired

No excuses.

Whenever a coach is fired, a new coach must be hired. Is it an excuse or a reason to admit that no demonstrably better coach has applied? Miss State fired their coach and then hired Leach. Can UAB make a similar hire in MBB?

Sure, we can pay another coach a ton of money for the same results.

Bama brought in BBHC Oats at considerable money in an attempt to match what BBHC Pearl is doing at Auburn. They had done the same thing for two previous BBHCs and were unsuccessful. Money helps give you choices, but you can't guarantee good results. At our level, it will always be a greater "crap shoot" than at a wealthier program which has greater amenities to offer to a prospect. EX: When I was at Bama (1960-1963) , athletes registered one day before regular students. When I asked for a class a friend had chosen, I was told the class was filled and was closed.

I think Fredricks is at every home game on the bench.

Tends to wear a gray tracksuit a good bit and watches warmups. he is about 6'5" and the other players seem to like him a lot from what I see from the nose bleeds.

Top 25 ranked JuCo, a lot of mid major offers. Would be the highest ranked JuCo Eshan pulled in. Definitely fits the Lovan Benjamin backcourt.

RE: Players sitting out - THE_LEGEND - 02-24-2020 10:40 AM

Signing one player or even two can't trump these numbers in year 4.

It would be nice to get this guy though. Butler leaving this year means avg 21.5 mins a game open space. With our front court, anybody good could get as many minutes as they can play actually.

The home losses. Ouch. Whats our all time worst season for home losses? I suspect its been discussed somewhere already.

Interesting info.. Looks like Murry is only slightly better than Eshan and both are mediocre when compared to Gene and the Mikes.

And Murry coached in a much tougher league.
