Early Signing Period - Discussion Thread - TroyFootball05 - 12-13-2019 06:30 PM

Wanted to go ahead and get this started. Wednesday is the big day, and we usually get most of what we're going to get during this period.

Troy's class is a monster offensively, not so much defensively. We've got a few guys on here that I really want to sign, specifically our top running back prospect, and the NJCAA offensive player of the year, a quarterback that will fit really well in our system.

Fingers crossed that everyone gets who they want and no one jumps ship.

With Drink gone, have no idea how it works or doesn’t work out for us, basically hoping for the best expecting the worst

Louisiana will have to fight off a few P5's on a couple kids this last week. we were ale to do it last year, so fingers crossed we can hold them at bay again this year. also only 3 spots left in this class, so hoping for some big surprises. with only 20 total spots available, not sure we can keep the #1 class in conference this year. Troy and App st are in position to pass us by with more players signed

Was talking about this with ericsaid, but I've said I have a suspicion 247 inflates player ratings for the G5. Maybe not deliberately, but it really seems they do. Here's the average player rating for each school since 2014 (Coastal's starts in 2017).

Yeah star rating inflation has been really noticeable over the last few years.

Makes it hard to compare classes YOY.

Our top recruit / commit just scored a touchdown in the Georgia 7A Championship Game. They are up 14-0, about to be 21-0.

Has offers from LSU, South Carolina, Memphis, Syracuse, and others. He is an early enrollee, and we really need to ink this guy Wednesday.

Shawn Elliott and his staff are pulling together an amazing recruiting cycle. If this is what he can do after a mediocre season and an unfinished facility....things are looking up!

But was it really a mediocre season for GSU? seems like you had a lot of highs before your QB got hurt.

When did this QB1 garbage start?

RE: Early Signing Period - Discussion Thread - slycat - 12-16-2019 02:57 PM

TXST going for a lot of JUCO and P5 transfers. Some pretty great talent that should hopefully get the team up to the rest of the conference in the next year or two and not 3-4 years down the road.

App got another 3* recruit commit today.

Knocks App up to 2nd in the conference by 247 measurements.

Troy lost one yesterday. Down to 18 commits. We'll see who signs Wednesday.

RE: Early Signing Period - Discussion Thread - CajunAmos - 12-16-2019 04:02 PM

Coach Napier said in a press conference today that the Cajuns plan on signing 17 on Wednesday. I'd expect some JUCO additions to fill holes and some open spots for just in case.

No joke 9 of the top 20 recruits App has had are in this 2020 class. I don't really believe that.

Throw out this class and I'd say only 7 of our top 50 all-time rated recruits were starters at some point during their time at App.

I would say there is some correlation to recruiting ratings and how a team plays on the field. APP and Georgia State have been notable exceptions. Anyone who argues either extreme is intentionally being obstinate to prove their point.

There are a lot more 3 stars then there used to be

4 of our top 8 all-time are in our 2020 class right now. And we have the worst rated class in the conference right now....

RE: Early Signing Period - Discussion Thread - StanMolsonMan - 12-17-2019 11:25 AM

I would just like to say even though our class doesn't reflect it in score... we have the best class in the SunBelt ever, and the championship with be ours for years to come.
(sarcasm)... (I really don't believe in rankings. They are about as reliable as the Santa Tracker and that requires believing in Santa Claus.)

But good luck to everyone on their best classes ever.

RE: Early Signing Period - Discussion Thread - warhawk09 - 12-17-2019 11:39 AM

When looking at class rankings; average ranking and not total score is what should really be looked at.
