PSU or Fordham under Moorhead

Meaning at PSU at some point in the past couple years. Now, that I looked; there isn't a name I've heard that wasn't formerly with Penn State.

Rahne has worked with most/all of them at some point,

We have 12 days to see how accurate any of this is, but for the remaining positions it wouldn't kill me to see a wider net cast for journeyman coaches.

Add Kirk Campbell, Asst QB coach at Penn State

Now you're just messing with me.

Sounds like this guy is replacing RR at PSU. I think it’s just worded weirdly

No. Rahne was replaced with Kirk Ciarrocca

RE: Rahnes Staff Discussion - Gilesfan - 12-30-2019 10:00 PM

When was Kirk Campbell named QB coach of Penn State?

Based on that article, he was named interim Dec 20

For this page:

Ciarrocca will have both titles

Well if you really want to know, you could go ask the guy from PSU. You know the one you treated like trash.

This is a particularly useful thread right now, it would be great if it doesn’t get locked.

True, I tried to delete.

I too would like Rahne to cast a wider net but as a first time HC he probably wants people he’s comfortable with (worked with). Id like to see one either very experienced coach or a former HC that can help ease him though the process. All the coaches that habe been through the building except for a possible DC are young guys.

So far, it seems to be generally promotions (grad assistants to position coaches or fcs position coach to FBS position coach).

There's something to be said for continuity of thought (wrt ppl RR has worked with at PSU), but I'd find it troubling if the entire staff were former PSU GAs who were beholden to him (Circle of Trust v2.0 anyone?) and no one who had worked with him at previous stops. I'd be thrilled to see someone from his K-State or Vandy days who has had success w/o RR. Or the MJ Sr suggestion, 20 years exp in FBS & NFL and limited ties to Happy Valley.

I'm also troubled that he's apparently given up on both Stiney and Burden. Keeping one would have shown that recruiting in VA was important to him. Credit where it's due, though, he was out there getting to know HS coaches in VB Ches Norf etc. and at the 4/5/6 State Ch'ip games.

I'd heard the suggestion elsewhere that they were looking far and wide on the D side, but a lot seems to have changed since then. Also that they were looking at some NFL coaches on either side but hadn't seen much more on that either.

RE: Rahnes Staff Discussion - Gilesfan - 12-31-2019 10:52 AM

No issue with Stiney leaving though I acknowledge he's probably a good recruiter for this area. RR made it a priority to get in this area recruiting wise and I had heard that would be Burden but after they had talks, I'm not sure what happened. One of the defensive coaches that will be coming on is an experienced recruiter in this area so I assume thats who they targeted recruiting wise.

Stiney would have fit the bill as a vet but I'm hoping they have someone else in mind.

RE: Rahnes Staff Discussion - DaBigBlue - 12-31-2019 11:00 AM

PSU did pretty well recruiting in Va this year. Think RR went up to catch the Maury championship game and the Oscar Smith game.

RE: Rahnes Staff Discussion - AimHigher - 12-31-2019 11:24 AM

We couldn't afford Stiney, 300k plus a year for a recruiter/admin. A bigger program will swoop him up for recruiting duties.

We should make it work with Stiney just for the recruiting duties. I'm afraid we're losing more ground on the local kids with DTapp hitting Chesapeake coaches hard right now for VT, he is even targeting a few local wrestlers.

Think package deal jr and sr reunited for college edition? 07-coffee3 I think he was his hs coach too.

FbScoop:
Quote:Penn State: Offensive line coach Matt Limegrover will not return after four seasons on staff. Before joining the Penn State staff Limegrover served as the assistant head coach / offensive line coach / offensive coordinator at Minnesota (2011-15) and was offensive coordinator / offensive line coach at Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois before that.

That position, OL coach, maybe one of the most important hires. OL is our weakest position. I hope we get Limegrover.

RE: Rahnes Staff Discussion - DaBigBlue - 12-31-2019 09:51 PM

That would be a major add to the staff.

Think we'll be hearing about additions to the staff very soon.
