I'm thinking he was trying to play 3 dimensional chess: put in Johnson, thinking UTEP would play run, and maybe a chance for a big pass play.

UTEP QB Locksley keeper left gains 20. Short pass to a wide-open receiver on the right side gains a bunch more.

After a short run, QB back to pass ... scrambles left ... runs down the left sideline for 19 (!!) to the Rice 7.
Delay of game penalty! (LOL!!)
Pass to the right ... complete for TD! (Owl defender had him covered, but not looking back for the ball.) Roughing the passer penalty, too.
2-point attempt ... Lots of motion left & right ... then false start!! The regular UTEP kicker (not the senior who missed the first one) in for the PAT ... Good.

2nd down: Back to pass ... Stewart looks, to "his 1st 2nd and 3rd reads" ... connects with Trammel over the middle!!

2nd down: Stewart pressured ... and misses short pass to wide-open tight end.
3rd down: Stewart back to pass. Steps up, but there's no pocket ... tackled. Chop block penalty, too. 4th down. Sigh.
