Kent State vs. Stetson - fallsdog - 11-30-2019 07:34 AM

The Golden Flashes welcome Stetson to the MAC Center on this Saturday after Thanksgiving. Stetson is playing .500 ball and coming off a loss to Western Carolina.

The best-smelling team on our schedule.

RE: Kent State vs. Stetson - KSU Agee - 11-30-2019 03:27 PM

I'll go

KSU 83
Stetson 62

That would make me happy in two separate but equally important ways.

Uh, Mr. Bainbridge, we need to have a little chat about shot selection. Nice D, though.

Not much Petersen today. I think that is a good thing. I like Santiago so far.

I caught a nap.
Stetson did have some size. It was good seeing some of the young guys get minutes.

Interesting to see Beck and Peterson barely played. Beck seems like he's going to be an important bench player but didn't get off the bench until later in the first half and I don't think he played in the second half. Castillo got a little bit of non-garbage time run in the second half. I thought he looked really good on a couple hedges. The last time I remember him playing he hedged too aggressively and immediately picked up a couple dumb fouls. It would be huge if he becomes someone we can count on or a handful of minutes with solid defense and solid rebounding. Hopefully his usage today is a sign that he's starting to come around in practice.

How about a couple of post-ups ... and less 3-pointers.

Or none. Those were three serious bricks on a quick trigger.

All that said .... typical freshman who has hit the wall. Has probably played more BB w/ practice workouts and games over the last three months than he did all of last season.

Should??? hopefully recover by MAC season and be a better player for it.

I'm not too concerned about a freshmen that bricks shots. Trevor Huffman struggled dribbling the ball past half court. John Edwards couldn't handle a pass. They both were huge parts of their teams after a couple years.
Play on Mr. Bainbridge. We got guys that got your back. Live and learn my man.

RE: Kent State vs. Stetson - anti-zip - 11-30-2019 10:18 PM

I think his three attempts mostly came in garbage time. Not really a big deal.

A very big deal ... in garbage time, should make 2 of 3... or at least have 2 of three on target but long or short.

That is his game, can you say stretch 4. He needs to add 20+ lbs if he is going to effective post player

You think someone missing 3 shots in garbage time is a "very big deal"? All I saw was a scoreless freshman forcing shots out of rhythm to try to get in the scoring column. Otherwise known as something that happens every time garbage time comes around.

Call me crazy ... but 'Garbage Time' is for those guys not expected to play much if at all. It seemed Bainbridge was destined for quality minutes at the start of the season ... so any time he is on the floor one (at least me) would expect him to focus on more things than just hoisting shots at the rim. I would think a quick post-up -- even if he failed -- would catch the coaches eye a lot faster than shooting 3s.

He seems to be a pretty willing rebounder, so that is a plus, but when I hear the term 'stretch 4' that implies a guy who lives and dies w/3s. I think Bainbridge has more to offer than that.

RE: Kent State vs. Stetson - fallsdog - 12-01-2019 02:44 PM

it has become clear to me over the years that Coach Senderoff shuffles the goblets out of the rotation in November and December as he and his staff work to find the right 8/9 guys.

I would stay tuned for the obligatory feel good story about a senior who is willing to come off the bench rather than start.

Considering there are so many seniors on the team ... and majority start, at least one is going to get the short end of the stick. It's not about who starts, but who finishes.

It’s about who finishes....indeed it is.
