KENTUCKY! - randy22263 - 11-29-2019 04:13 PM Can't believe with the great basketball fans we have, no one is talking about this game. Predictions? Also curious what are the expectations for our next 3 games. Serious thoughts only. I'll start. I say win one and be competitive in another one is reasonable. (Yes, yes we all want to win them all). Please convince me with your responses that we do have intelligent supporters on here. Thank you. RE: KENTUCKY! - UABFRENCHY - 11-29-2019 04:46 PM i want to see how good or bad we are. we will see in the next 3 games RE: KENTUCKY! - HiddenDragon - 11-29-2019 04:50 PM I've already said we lose all three. I actually thought we would lose the Lamar game as well but that was a nice surprise. This team doesn't have the offense or talent to beat UK, Texas, and Memphis. The only way I can see possibly one win is that UAB muck it up so badly it throws the other team out of sync and you get an ugly unbalanced game. Otherwise, Eshan hasn't shown he can beat a decent team much less a ranked team. RE: KENTUCKY! - BandGrad - 11-29-2019 05:07 PM After Kensucky lost to Evansville, I just don’t think we have a chance to win in Rupp Arena. I normally am optimistic, but with this team, I just don’t have a lot of optimism. I just hope we don’t lose by 40. Usually Memphis is the one who does all the basketball (and obnoxious) post and replies RE: KENTUCKY! - Ranger1386c - 11-29-2019 05:24 PM (11-29-2019 04:50 PM)HiddenDragon Wrote: I've already said we lose all three. I Remember deep ncaa runs and highly competitive games, including regular wins, against national powers. The BYU game. The Virginia game. The Great Alaska Shootout. Beating Cincy and Huggy Bear on a tip in. Multiple Kentucky wins. Even North Carolina and Iowa State. There have been a number of remarkably fun UAB basketball eras, some not so long ago. But this era is not one of those. I have seen nothing in the past three years to give me a legit reason to believe our team will win any of the three big games ahead. The closest Ive seen was the Auburn game. But we lost to Troy. Troy. Last year. At home. With Zach Bryant on the floor. And to Utah Somewhere this year. Again on our home floor. This years team does two things well; execute solid defense and rebound aggressively. Those are good and commendable traits, among a team full of hard working, good guys. But not enough to contend for anything. Even in a weak CUSA. Not fun. I predict we keep it close for a half in two of these three games,’but fade in the second half of each as foul trouble sets in, our point guards tire,’and they figure out our defensive rotations and passing lanes. . But I hope Im wrong, and instead they win all three, and that catalyzes a Tavin Lovin led UAB team to a shocking conference championship and an inspiring ncaa run, and Ehsan stays and proves in the seasons ahead to be the best coach and recruiter to ever lead a Blazer team onto the court and we turn down an offer from the American Conf to accept a membership in the Big 12. All of that, maybe any of that, would be amazing and most welcome and fun. But absolutely no trends or tendencies to date suggest any of that will happen under this staff. And he’s at the game, so probably wouldn’t be posting much anyway RE: KENTUCKY! - BlazerGreen - 11-29-2019 06:40 PM This team shoots the ball so poorly. Hard to see how we beat many good teams shooting in the high 20's from 3pt. Gueye is 1-15 from 3 so far, his only make the game winner at Troy. Scott-Grayson leads the team in 3PA but is only shooting 20% from there. Got to shoot better but I'm not sure we have the personnel. RE: KENTUCKY! - UABFRENCHY - 11-29-2019 07:33 PM we are playind decent pearson is playing well RE: KENTUCKY! - BlazerGreen - 11-29-2019 07:44 PM Not a bad half for UAB. If we could just shoot a higher %... RE: KENTUCKY! - randy22263 - 11-29-2019 07:48 PM On pace to score in the fifties again. Coach Bartow use to say if you cant hit shots you will never look like a good team. RE: KENTUCKY! - WesternBlazer - 11-29-2019 08:03 PM This UAB will live and die based on how well they rebound... RE: KENTUCKY! - BlazerGreen - 11-29-2019 08:13 PM Scott-Grayson has had a nice game. Needs to keep it up. RE: KENTUCKY! - blazinrunner - 11-29-2019 08:26 PM (11-29-2019 05:24 PM)Ranger1386c Wrote:(11-29-2019 04:50 PM)HiddenDragon Wrote: I've already said we lose all three. I used to love the big games because UAB always had a chance. In the past 3-4 years, I don’t get as excited because I don’t realistically think UAB has a chance in them. That said, we’ve played better than I expected against UK tonight. I hoped to keep it under 20 and we’re at -13 with 8:30 left. RE: KENTUCKY! - HiddenDragon - 11-29-2019 08:28 PM Who would have ever thought we would be playing Kentucky in basketball and there is only a one page thread on BlazerTalk midway through the second half? RE: KENTUCKY! - BandGrad - 11-29-2019 08:32 PM It’s telling how far this basketball program has fallen. RE: KENTUCKY! - FNblazer - 11-29-2019 08:38 PM At least our next game against Texas will be in a much less hostile environment. Tickets are going for $4 online. I’m glad we are playing a real OOC schedule for once. This will pay big dividends for the team in conference play. I would have RE: KENTUCKY! - BandGrad - 11-29-2019 08:54 PM Only two less made shots than the Cats. Look at how many free throws Kensucky got compared to UAB. Not near as bad as I thought this game would be. |
