Richard G Johnson excellent audio interview with 24/7 Sports. Accuse Calipari of this - BigTigerMike - 11-10-2019 08:47 PM

He states someone have to convince NCAA of ruling Wiseman ineligible. He points to Cal

Quote:In this interview, you will hear Mr. Johnson break down the argument against the NCAA and why he believes that James Wiseman, the University of Memphis, and Penny Hardaway have a case against the NCAA for damages. According to Johnson, they could all get paid. Johnson makes it clear as day: the NCAA is a horribly inefficient and disorganized entity that bullies institutions into servitude.

Mr. Johnson was the plaintiff’s counsel in Oliver v. NCAA, which was the first college athlete lawsuit against the NCAA to ever go to trial, the first to win, and the first to get paid. The Oliver case was the impetus for the O’Bannon case and its ongoing progeny. Mr. Johnson was a primary background source for Taylor Branch’s seminal article, The Shame of College Sports.

Joe Nocera, in his book, "Indentured," called Mr. Johnson’s Submarining Due Process: How the NCAA Uses its Restitution Rule to Deprive College Athletes of their Right of Access to the Courts … Until Oliver v. NCAA the meanest law review article ever written. As a college athlete rights advocate and commentator, as well as a leading legal authority on the NCAA, Mr. Johnson is a member of the executive board of the College Sports Research Institute. Mr. Johnson holds his J.D., M.B.A., and B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, and he practices law in Cleveland, Ohio.

Very damning of the mafia style of the NCAA.

I think you may be over reaching on this. According to UK fans, Calipari is a saint and the only coach in basketball that does not cheat to get players.

I read some guy claim that even if Cal cheated at UMass and Memphis, that he doesn’t have to cheat at Kentucky because all recruits want to come there and there’s no need of cheating

Cal would never do something like this himself. There's at least two people between Cal and whoever did this.

As much as I hate the way he left us I don't think Cal would stoop this low. JMO.

I've heard that more than once. They conveniently forget no top recruits were going there before Cal rolled into Lexington. Then, all of sudden, top recruiting classes every year.

IF this gets to open court, the question will be asked "Why did the NCAA go back and re-evaluate JW's eligibility? The answer will be interesting to hear.

Exactly! Johnson said there’s no mechanism by which the NCAA reopens a case like this that was closed with no new information. He said somebody like at UK told them ‘this is unfair why are you allowing him to be eligible‘
