Bowl preditions (Always entertaining) - DeanoAPP - 11-06-2019 07:49 PM

I know these are always wrong, but entertaining at least.

Apologies if this has already been asked on another thread but do we know yet if the NOLA bowl will take the champion and the Cure bowl will take the runner up? Or was that just a one-off for last season?

If memory serves me, yes NOLA will be the Conference champ again this year, as far as the Cure being the runner up. I can't find any links for the official contracts saying this, I know there is definitely a picking order to our bowl affiliates.

I would bet money that Cure takes A-State no matter where they finish if eligible.

As big as this year has been for us I am hoping we get a destination city that will draw more GSU fans into making a 2 or 3 day weekend of it. Camellia vs. A MAC team will draw only the diehards.

That is the general line of thought on our end as well. Provided we win enough. We get there

This is why two bowl tie-ins with MAC are just bad for the conference.

Can I ask why? Seems like a lot of the talking heads have Ga State going to Orlando.

It's hard because it's 2019 and not 1993, but the Peach Bowl was prescient in making sure they in most years have an SEC vs ACC match up of schools within 6 hours driving of Atlanta.

I would think the any Florida bowl especially in Orlando or Tampa would want us.

Well Gast fans are still trying to figure some of this out I see.

Ya'll will likely never be an option for Camellia, much like Troy. You're too close. People in Atlanta could day trip the hell out of the Camellia Bowl and the city doesn't see any influx of cash due to your being in the bowl and visiting stuff in the city. So I wouldn't worry about that one.

Plus most would stay at home and watch on TV because it's a day trip to nothing but the game.

Cure Bowl is focused on raising money for breast cancer. No brainer to get more than the usual coverage by inviting the team whose coach lost his wife to breast cancer days before the season started.

I wouldnt mind Mobile. Otherwise wouldnt mind Tampa if they cant fill it a team from the contract.

Gasparilla Bowl is a stretch as a Sun belt team would be their 5th option at best.

BR:
New Orleans: Arkansaas State vs Marshall
Cure: Georgia State vs UCF
Camellia: Georgia Southern vs Buffalo
Mobile: Appalachian State vs Toledo
Arizona: Louisiana vs San Diego State

SI:
New Orleans: Ark State vs FIU
Cure: Georgia State vs UCF
Camellia: ULM vs Western Michigan
Mobile: Georgia Southern vs Toledo
Arizona: App State vs San Diego state
Frisco: UL vs FAU

USA Today:
New Orleans: UL vs La Tech
Cure: Central Florida vs Appalachian State
Camellia: Western Michigan vs Georgia State
Mobile: Georgia Southern vs Ohio
Arizona: Ark State vs Utah STate

Athlon:
New Orleans: App State versus La Tech
Cure: Ark State vs Liberty
Camellia: Georgia State vs Central Michigan
Mobile: UL vs Toledo
Arizona: Georgia Southern vs Fresno State

Surprised UCF is getting placed in the Cure Bowl. Zero chance a 9 or 10-win AAC team goes to the Cure Bowl.

Pretty sure Mohajir said on a recent radio interview with Brad Bobo that New Orleans Bowl hasn't committed yet, and did so late last year - likely after knowing probable conference champion.

The conference has announced that the Champ goes to NOLA

I don't know if this would have any pull, but the new sponsor of the Frisco bowl is Atlanta based. I wouldn't mind going to Dallas.
