The well-traveled & nationally-respected coach with an NCAA & 4 NIT appearances at UTEP & Nebraska just might’ve been better than the homeboy we’ve hired after finishing 1 game over .500 in his 5th year at Southeastern La.?

Say it ain’t so....

It's almost like hiring someone who is one of us instantly makes Southern Miss people think they are stellar coaches.

Well all the losses this year are still Donnie Tyndall's fault, soooooo.......

So we got what 3, 4 years before they are Sadlers fault and in year 8 Ladner may finally be responsible?

Not really sure. Youd have to let the people that blamed every Sadler loss on DT answer that. Not sure when we can blame Sadler for anything yet. They will let you know if we can go straight to blaming Ladner though. By all appearances from posts so far, yes, we can.

RE: 2019-20 basketball games - EagNBran - 12-15-2019 10:00 AM

Can I blame Ladner? We didn’t lose everyone from last year by any means.

RE: 2019-20 basketball games - usm99 - 12-16-2019 09:40 AM

Not knowing whether Art and/or Boban are healthy enough to play tonight at Texas Tech and should they both not play this game will get real ugly.

TT -23 tells one all they need to know...

With no post-season ban and no impending NCAA judgement looming over his head, you’re damned right I’m gonna be harder on Ladner than Sadler. Everyone should be. Ladner’s been dealt a much better hand, albeit with a comparable amount of player turnover.

That said, it’s not like he’s been dropped into a well-oiled machine, either. I’m willing to give him some time to show what he can do (though I’ll be shocked if it’s much of anything).

My main beef with Tyndall is still if you’re going to cheat your a** off and scorch the earth behind you, at least make it worthwhile and do better than a couple NIT quarterfinal appearances..

RE: 2019-20 basketball games - usm99 - 12-16-2019 10:44 PM

Has Isaiah Jones Jones quit or was his dismissed? 12 games into the season and he’s yet to play. And I’m not sure he’s even been on the bench in street clothes the last several home games. Also noticed Denijay Harris hasn’t played any minutes this year so that’s 2 guys at 6’7” each that could be contributing while Art and Boban are both sidelined. As it is we’re stuck with 7 players rotating in and out with about 6 or so others that have no business being on a D1 team. Brutal opinion I realize but stating my thoughts.

NIT quarterfinal appearances are an accomplishment at USM. We have what two NCAA appearances over our history. Not saying I didnt expect better but I truly enjoyed the DT era.

No he hasnt. Id rather inherit a program coming off the 2 most successful seasons in histoy, as far as wins and losses go, and 5 conecutive 20 win seasons rather than 3 of the worst seasons in school history.

Eustachy left a string of 20-win seasons. Tyndall left a roster that immediately disintegrated, an in-progress NCAA investigation, loss of scholarships, a 2-year post-season ban, and every one of his wins erased from the record book. I can keep explaining it to you, but I can never understand it for you.

I’m honestly starting to think you’re just trolling with that nonsense because of just how ridiculous it is.

It was 3 NCAAs and 8 NITs through Eustachy.

Cheat all you want if you can rattle off some NCAA tourney wins and put us on the national map to the point where players will still want to come here even through the penalties because you’ve now made our program a legit badass.

Conversely, if you get us in a wholly unprecedented amount of trouble and still can’t even match the previous high-water mark, then f*** you and the horse upon which you road.

RE: 2019-20 basketball games - Reggie Favre - 12-23-2019 11:18 PM

Harbor, are you really that gd ******* stupid? I dont think you are, but beginning to wonder.

Howd that probation effect Louisville, Byu, Utah, Oregon, Syracuse, Ms State and Uconn? All still on probation. They go from 27 wins with 5 consecutive 20 win seasons to 3 consecutive 20 loss seasons? Youll prob have trouble looking that up so ill tell you. No...they did not. They kept trucking along pretty nicely. Sadler was a pathetic hire and performed pathetically for this program.

I can keep explaining it to you, but I can never understand it for I you.

Yes, because comparing our basketball program in 2014 to that of Louisville, UConn, Syracuse, and the rest of those is completely reasonable. Practically mirror images, we all were.

Regardless, Sadler’s gone and only the last smoldering ashes of Tyndall’s legacy remain now. It’s a new day and the onus is on Ladner. Let’s see what he can do.

It's gonna be very disappointing if it is exposed that Doc is a better coach than Jay. Bama was a winnable game and it wasn't close. We can't defend the perimeter.

Doc is a better coach than Jay. That's not debatable. Doc Salder .505 4 NIT and 1 NCAA. Jay Jadner .452 1 NIT. Doc has accomplished more against better competition. I am willing to give him a chance but lets not pretend that this is an upgrade in any way.

You're serious? This is your argument? Doc has been a head coach at a P5 or G5 program (pardon me for using football terms but you get the idea) for 13 years. Ladner has been for a few weeks. Think that skews things some? Give me a break. Ladner's NIT at SELA was the only one SELA has had in school history. He may be terrible (I doubt it), but to compare their numbers at this point is asinine.
