Yea, he mystifies me. Lots of major programs with good recruiting histories pursued him vigorously. Set state record for tackles, looked strong in the all star game. Yet even as a JR he has fewer tackles than our crop of walkons and former walkons who are in the rotation, many younger and newer to the program. He was supposed to be our most significant HS signee ever, but seems to have notably regressed every year. Seems to be about third on the depth chart with 4 tackles and a fumble recovery in 5 games. Makes little sense from the outside. Im sure there is an explanation that is probably not for public discussion. Hopefully he turns the story around, starting this week.

This is why I can never get very interested in recruiting

Think AU and Iowa intended to put him at fullback. Not sure on Ole Miss.

I think trying him at fullback is a great idea. He is big fast and strong.

Yea, but to their credit the recruiting services are right more often than not, but they do miss a lot of good players, which is where Clark and stadf thrive. Kris Moll and Spencer Brown and Austin Watkins were some of the lowest rated signees in their class, all mid two stars. Brontae Harris and Fitz Mofor came to UAB as walkons. The only position where we seem to rarely find a diamond in the coal pile out of high school is the offensive line. Probably the most difficult position to recruit and develop.

Unfortunately, UAB's offense doesnt feature a fullback position these days.

Which is unfortunate indeed. A full back can create a lot of havoc and create a lot of confusion and misdirection. I remember a few years ago when the diamond formation was making its way through the college ranks it created a bunch of trouble for defenses because of all the misdirection

RE: After 5 games - BlazinBham - 10-12-2019 11:25 AM

I hate that everything is ran out of shotgun. There’s no singleback set formations, i formations, or wishbone formations. No play action passes. When your run game isn’t working, why not try a different formation? You can literally see everything in the run game coming in the shotgun formation
