Yeah, unfortunately that was based on a real story where the wife of a minister whose family visited Ayers Rock had an infant in their tent taken by a Dingo, and the Dingoes did eat the baby. The woman wasn't believed and was tried for murder until someone found the skeletal remains of the baby near a Dingo den a year or two later.
Meryl Streep and Sam Neil starred in the movie version. Seinfeld made fun of the Streep's defense of "The Dingo ate my baby!"
