Modes of travel for conference away games: C-USA and SBC - Fighting Muskie - 09-25-2019 01:11 PM

I was curious if anyone knew which conference trips were taken by bus versus by plane for members of C-USA and the SBC? If a trip is a flight, where do they fly in/out of?

Arkansas State
Football
Bus to ULM, depending on the mood, might bus to Troy, UL, and TXST but that's pretty rare. Fly out of Memphis
Hoops (men and women)
Bus to Little Rock and ULM. Almost always fly out of Memphis, once in a great while will take small charter out of Jonesboro.
Everything else
Bus to Little Rock, UL, ULM, TXST, UTA, Troy, USA. Everywhere else fly out of Memphis.

ULM, South Al., and troy are the only schools we bus I think, but when they flight they fly out of LFT in Lafayette.

I thought Jay said baseball flew out of New Orleans.

Maybe years ago but I know UL athletics have all been using the private runway at LFt when they come in and out.

To my knowledge we bus to every school except ULL, ULM, Arkansas St, and TXST.

App State, Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, and Troy are all within a 5 hour bus ride.

I’m not sure whether we typically bus or fly to South Alabama but I assume we typically fly there.

I've been told that ULM busses to everything under an 8 hour drive. I know they bussed to Texas A&M a few years back. When the football team flies they get a charter out of MLU in Monroe, less than 10 minutes from campus. Not sure about other sports, but there are limited options when it comes to flying commercial out of Monroe, so maybe they go to Little Rock or something.

I remember seeing ULM come into Jonesboro one year in the 80's. Came in on two twin engine prop aircraft for football. Used to work near the airport back then.

Odd travel story. AState couldn’t get a charter for the desired travel times today so took busses from Jonesboro to Montgomery and will then bus on in to Troy tomorrow. The busses will then leave Troy and head for Memphis International. After the game a local charter company will take the Red Wolves to Montgomery where a charter flight will take them to Memphis to meet their Jonesboro based charter company for the hour drive to campus.

Found all this out because the AD posted photos on Twitter that they were on the side of the road with a shredded tire.

It would make sense, they originally built the local runway to give the biggest of the mosquitoes there somewhere to land without disrupting traffic.
