If anyone really wondered what geographic area individual coaches handle, check out their virtual spring recruiting schedule.

Interesting stuff.

P.S. I believe EMU is using DMV to stand for D.C., Maryland and Virginia. DMV has that specific meaning for people living in those states.

Can you tweet back to Lamarcus Hicks, two players Malik Verdon, from Hamilton High School, and Jaydan Mayes from Fairfield High School! Two big time players in the Cincinnati area! Mayes is on par Vince Calhoun, Malik Verdon is on par with Mike Glass! I'm sure they both have plenty of offers! That conference is loaded with D1 talent! Thanks!

I found the QB, Verdon.

Has offers from W. Va., Miss. St and Florida.

I can't believe we didn't offer either one! They would look great in Ypsilanti! I hope Hicks is reaching out today, or tomorrow! Both can really play!
Verdon has big boy offers, and Mayes has only 1!

We try for a recruit or two from Oklahoma each year.

CMU got a commitment from Lincoln OG Trevor Jones. Can't let those guys get away.

Hard to say. CMU was his only offer. I had not seen his name listed in top 50 of rising seniors in MI.

One of the things we need to wonder about is how with the June camps canceled (I believe that is correct) how will that effect recruiting. As we know these camps are really important for players and coaches to evaluate talent. They are literally 'showcases.'

Obviously EMU loses it camps but also the chance for our coaches to attend other camps in the midwest.

And, of course, this effects other schools too. So for much, all are in the same boat.

Will the 2021 class for most G5 schools be more regionalized and less national????

Darn good question. The camps are really important in providing opportunities to see/work with kids who might be on the bubble for teams, and to discover previously unrecognized talent.

I think you are on target in your commnet about regionalizing recruitment. I also think it will also create a much higher level of competition to recruit the kids who have already been identified nationally as talents.

I think you are on target in your commnet about regionalizing recruitment. I also think it will also create a much higher level of competition to recruit the kids who have already been identified nationally as talents.

And I think across the board (all CFB) more recruiting mistakes.

I'm not a fan of how the NFL follows a college FB player for a few years, then all star games, combine, pro days, interviews, etc. etc. until they might find out that a prospect's right arm is 1/8" shorter than his left or some other largely irrelevant info. Eventually they get to 'analysis paralysis' with too much information, both + and - until they get hopelessly confused.

But for most of these 3-star recruits, there will be mistakes made on playing ability, academics, personality, etc. etc.

And these camps are good for discovering pluses and minuses to individual recruits.

Sometimes a coach will see something in the player's demeanor and think, "I doubt I would like to coach this kid..." Maybe the kid loves to drop the F bomb whenever he gets frustrated or whenever we sees others do it. Bad body language. (this is a recruiting story from the 90s or 00s, about a MBB prospects. NOT an EMU recruit. A MI recruiting analyst told me one player dropped after he was overheard telling another player that he had a gun in his car. RED FLAG!!!).

Or a kid may come across as very coachable. Attentive, respectful, etc. Quick to learn new things.

The Ypsilanti 11 talks about 2021 commits! Okay, In the MAC East there aren't as many commits at this point, and in football the MAC East might be A little weaker except Miami which is very young, and loaded with talent, then the MAC West! But in our state C Mich has 12 commits, W Mich has 11 commits, N Illinois has 13 commits, and Toledo has 15 commits! We compete in the MAC West folks, and we've ONE commit! These 6-7 seasons won't change this pattern period! This year's A make, or break for CC...…..He's 25-26 the past 4 seasons, which for E Michigan football historically is great, but to be taken serious, we need to win the MAC WEST! Miami Ohio won the MAC, and has 17 2021 commits, and C Mich after an 1-11 season wins the MAC West, and has 12 commits! I see A 5-7 season next season, at best 6-6! At Kentucky, At Missouri, At Army, At W Mich, At Miami Ohio will all be tough...…..Until I see our running game, new QB, and our DL, LB, I can't see much better...….I wish I could! Can't wait for the responses back! We need to quit making excuses for CC, this is year 7 folks...….
