Not a surprise. The question is why?

Yes, it is a good question. I think, for what we know, have enough QBs for two MAC teams.

We have a lot of bunching, i.e., a lot of QBs with say at least 3 years of athletic eligibility.

It's not like we have all upperclassmen who will be gone in a year or so.

Honestly I see this as a sign of the times.

The QB position is clearly the most important in today's game, somewhat like the center was in basketball of yesteryear. With the advent of the transfer portal, how few can you actually afford to have on your roster? Take Indiana for example. They had a good QB in Peyton Ramsey but underclassman Michael Penix beat him out for the job. Ramsey transferred to Northwestern and did well, Penix was great but got hurt before season's end and IU was never the same afterwards.

Today's prototype college QB is expected to not only gun the ball all over the field like Brogan Roback, but also run the ball when needed. When 100% healthy Mike Glass was phenomenal, unfortunately he was very fragile. Our team was noticeably different without him taking snaps. Can you imagine how bleak Roback's junior and senior season teams would have been without him?

From my perspective, with Bryant and Hutchinson, the Eagles would have an outstanding 1 and 2 in the QB slot, regardless of who starts. And speaking of starting, they would push each other as they challenge each other. I'll admit I don't follow the other MAC programs that closely, but would any other MAC team, at least on paper, have a stronger 1-2 QB combination?

I think you're spot on. The offense is loaded. About the only thing I think they need is a burner at WR. Perhaps thay guy is on the team?

Just gotta be average on defense and it should be another bowl season...although we all want more.

For those who like to look at aggregate rankings, I see EMU #3 in terms of ave ranking per recruit.

We (81.99) are only behind TOL, and UB. https://247sports.com/Season/2021-Football/CompositeTeamRankings/?Conference=MAC

One can easily make the point that the new SAPC has had a very positive effect. We have not been this high in memory. Might add that the Quick Lane Bowl was also noticed by those EMU was recruiting back then (seems like an eternity).

Interesting mix. Only a two star on rivals and not ranked on 247. Then you look at his other offers and they aren't very impressive in terms of D-1 schools until you see he had a Texas Tech offer.

We've had good luck with Oklahoma guys, excited to have him on board!

let me take a shot at this. Best I could come up.

HBU - Houston Baptist U. FCS School. They played their 2020 season (4 games), 3 of which were against FBS foes.

Will he transfer to EMU? Would have to sit one and could play three. He is an OL. Don't have access to a FCS transfer portal.
