Men's Soccer 2019 - wmubroncopilot - 09-15-2019 05:42 PM

Soccer is well underway. Talented team at WMU off to an uneven start. 3-2 so far with losses to a couple pretty good teams (Butler, DePaul) and blowout wins over mediocre ones (Cincy, Green Bay, Niagara).

Hard to glean a lot just yet. Have a trip to winless MSU (0-3-2) on Friday then a pretty much impossible trip to Virginia on Monday. Cavs are 4-0 with convincing wins over the 1st and 2nd ranked teams in the country.

Also interesting that Akron sits at 0-4 against a typically tough schedule.

RE: Men's Soccer 2019 - Bronco'14 - 09-15-2019 06:22 PM

Looks like Bowling Green St is good, and West Virginia as usual.

Last year we got off to a slow start too so we'll see how this season plays out.

Leading MSU 1-0 at half.

Pretty dominant performance. 20-9 edge in shots and 13-2 in shots on goal. MSU is struggling this year but brought back a few top players from a final 4 team last season. We caught them at a very good time, but I suspect they'll come around and be a boon to our RPI as the year goes on.

UVa on the other hand is an extremely tough assignment in a couple days. We'll find out if we can compete with the best of the best.

Great win! Hate State.

Broncos go in and beat the Musketeer's 1-0. They were ranked 19th until last week, Xavier has some good wins on their record too.

RE: Men's Soccer 2019 - wmubroncopilot - 10-03-2019 07:14 PM

Big stretch coming against some tough opponents. Next 4 games could make or break a chance at an at large bid. Broncos currently 81st in RPI. Next four:

#9 Loyola Marymount
@ #147 Oakland
@ #42 West Virginia (conference opener)
@ #31 Michigan

RE: Men's Soccer 2019 - wmubroncopilot - 10-06-2019 02:00 PM

Beat LMU 1-0 and shot up to 53rd in RPI!

RE: Men's Soccer 2019 - Bronco'14 - 10-06-2019 04:52 PM

That's good. How many make it? 64ish?

Wait, Loyola Marymount was #9 in the country? If so: :0

West Virginia is good, I believe ranked.

Michigan will be tough but they're beatable.

How's the rest of the MAC looking? I know WVU is always good.

They were 9th in RPI but dropped to 28th after today. 22nd in the TDS poll.

MAC is decent but nothing special after WVU (and maybe us?). Akron looks way down. Up for grabs.

It's fluid but right now you'd have to hit top 37 to get an at large (roughly, there is a committee but they follow RPI very closely). Next few games will decide if we have a shot or if we'll have to win the MAC tournament.

We'll still probably blow it to Akron. 03-shhhh

So we're at 81 & have to get up to 37? Ugh. Still a long ways to go.

New team... a ton of work to get these kids on same page.

WMU is talented.... they just need to get them playing together.

This team is in good hands... look out down the stretch.

RE: Men's Soccer 2019 - RaybanBronco - 10-09-2019 08:42 PM

Picked up a nice win against Oakland U tonight. We were up 3-0, gave up two goals later on in the second half to end the game 3-2. Onto WVU Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Go Broncos!

04-cheers

1-0 Broncos! Own goal from WVU on a dangerous cross. WMU looks good today.
