Memphis -19 @ USA - Mimi - 09-08-2019 01:43 PM

Wow

http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/

Did open at -20 but I expected more like -8

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - AlonsoWDC - 09-08-2019 01:48 PM

South Alabama did not look good at all v. Jackson State.

Also Nebraska had no right to be ranked.

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - Mimi - 09-08-2019 01:50 PM

Likely so

Oddsmakers expect us to be fairly crisp in first road game or national perception is stronger than I realized

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - shere khan - 09-08-2019 02:29 PM

Hope we beat them by 60. Wont be even slightly shocked if they beat us.

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - Atlanta - 09-08-2019 02:31 PM

Got to believe -19 is overstated & won't stay there. Beating most anyone on their field by 3 scores is a pretty tall task. Will probably wind up about -14.

...........and a 43% chance of rain during game.

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - bubbapt - 09-08-2019 02:53 PM

That seems like a lot of points if we’re taking on all of America.

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - cscottl1981 - 09-08-2019 03:11 PM

Tigers might be able to beat this version of the Dream Team by 19.

RE: Memphis -19 @ USA - AlonsoWDC - 09-08-2019 03:16 PM

I was thinking Memphis -16.

Maybe perception bumped it. But this should be nothing more than a track race that we don't look back in.

Watched some of their game against Jackson State. They had trouble early and pulled away in the second half. Their running game is much better than their passing game. They have a talented back or two. They also had three players ejected for targeting-- two in the first half, and one in the second half (who will miss the first half of our game). Their QB is also somewhat mobile (no pun intended). 19 seems a bit high to me, but Vegas has been spot on in our first two games.

Oddsmakers don’t drop that much without something significant being revealed.

In both the ole miss and southern games we controlled ball and took a knee after burning a ton of clock. We could have easily won 22-10 vs ole miss scored 62 or more vs southern.

Nebraska has been a 4-8 team the last 2 years and looks to be something close to that this year. Any moral victory staying close to Nebraska should be tempered.

They were favored by 27 over JState and didn’t cover. They had 11 penalties for over 100 yards including 3 targeting calls. Not sure who is out this week.

They are a ground game team. We held ole miss to negative yards in the first half and 15 yards total offense in the second half vs southern. Our very young Oline is growing up. We now know what our backup QB and RBs can do. Our special teams look great.

I’ll give the 19.

Playing on their field in the hottest part of the day, against a run happy home team concerns me, especially with a big chance of rain.

Boom! You hit it. Polls are 100% about National perception! Remember that! We're not there yet perception wise but we're slowly building a reputation. just got to keep it up.

I understand. In spite of your ringing endorsement of USA I’ll still give the points.

I'll guess it gets down to -15 by game day. Tigers win 31-17 on the road, USA beats the spread.

I wouldn't call USA a cupcake, but whatever. Now, Southern University? That was a cupcake.

How can it be a road game when we’re playing America?
