Definitely was breathing a big sigh of relief after the goal line stand and the interception at the end.

Was pretty sure the game would be extremely difficult with all those new faces, and Alabama St Fan Base, Hope the Blazers get another game with them. That being said, great crowd for a Late Thursday night. The Blazers held off a Hungry Team and Crowd and Fan Base, Was a Big time game with Little Experience to go with it and the Blazers pulled the win, This will be a big week in practice and corrections. Know the Blazers can forget about last years team and get ready to play for this years team. Don't presume it will get any easier from here on out. Stay Healthy Blazers no team wants to lose to you. That's what a Blazer is about its about as tough as playing For Notre Dame. Get Well make the corrections and come out fresh.

It's a great learning opportunity and the article hits on a lot of good points. Alabama State will probably be better than advertised. But let's also be fair... this game didn't have to be as close as it was: 1) ASU fumble recovery on our kickoff return, 2) Going for it on 4th down deep in our territory and not getting any points when we could have gotten at least a FG, 3) ASU fumble recovery after long pass completion by us to get us into the red zone. Those 3 situations alone lead to around a 17 pt swing, and that's to say nothing about dropped passes and multiple near-pass completions on long passes. I get it... those are all part of the game. With the mistakes we made, we couldn't have beaten a decent FBS team. That's why it's good to have an opponent like this to get our feet wet. In particular, coming off a season with so much changeover and loss of seniors.

We got a win. That's better than getting the life sucked out of you by getting your doors blown off in the first game of the year against better competition. Yet, it was unimpressive enough that both the players and the coaches know there is a LOT to work on. We don't have the skill or depth that we can let off in terms of focus or effort, regardless of the opponent.

And finally let me just say... lots of teams with great finishes start off with equally bad (or worse) first games as this one was. So I don't think you can take away too much from what this game means for the rest of the season. I think Coach Clark made a key observation in the postgame talk when he said "so this is what it feels like to have the target on you."

I will reserve judgment until the Blazers play a DI School and does the same thing. See if South Alabama has the same production. Alabama St. turned good see if South Brings it. When you can open with Kansas and do that then I will be impressed.
