Im a little alarmed at the expectations that UNT will easily beat Cal on the road. I think UNT is prob better on a neutral field, but this is not that situation. An injury or two could expose depth issues for UNT before this game happens.

I would always be concerned about the P5 officiating. Do like you did to Arkansas last season and you won’t have to worry about that.

You should've seen our ‘99 game at Clumpson. Our winning drive went 200 yards to cover 75 actual yards thanks to a crooked side judge.

man, i really hate people that blame officials in big time conference road games...maybe it's true, most likely it isn't...beat the team... or not

Im not blaming anything or anyone. Watch the final drive and you tell me. We won, but that many calls and that many yards certainly is at the very least suspect.

03-lmfao You haven’t been around as long as us older USM fans. And you haven’t played Bammer and Auburn before the coverage of every game by TV. Or the billion dollar contract with the devil (ESPN for those who don’t know who satan is).

We went to OT vs UF a couple of years ago...and there was a pretty conspicuous SEC "no call" on 4th down. It is what it is, if you want to win those games you have to get far enough ahead that the refs can't take it from you. Such is life.

I agree. Granted, there have been many occasions where a G5 team gets shafted big time on reviewed plays. Whether that's on purpose or not, I don't know. It happened when Troy played Clemson three years ago and it was obvious on replay and to the announcers that Troy got shafted.

BUT, Troy beat LSU and Nebraska two years in a row and there weren't any bad referee calls. Any of the penalties that were called on Troy in those games were indeed Troy's fault.

“Whether that's on purpose or not, I don't know.”

Let me just say this; there is a whole lot of money involved. If a certain school will pay $45,000 for Albert Means then who here believes they wouldn’t hand their conference refs $5,000 and tell em “keep it fair”? It doesn’t just happen to us lowly practice teams. Enjoy...

I totally get. That ref moving that spot for Alabama is absurd. Like I said, It happened to Troy against Clemson at 3:32 in this video.

But it's hard to imagine that this happens for most G5 teams when they play P5 teams.

It used to happen all the time before every game was televised. I remember some real backside pokings. At the beginning of the ESPN era the announcers would point it out as an absurd call. That calmed it some but once ESPN became a ‘family’ member the questions became non-existent. It now is just a fact of life.
