Why ?? Now our team will be corrupted. He's probably jealous that Harbaugh received a key to the city. The same Urban Liar who won't acknowledge his Toledo birth. You guessed it, NOT a fan of him or any of the teams he corrupted err coached.

That would be a concern. But we do sit silent when other money goes out, saying it's for the student-athlete experience and meeting Meyer would be a big-deal to these kids.

I possibly have a different perspective that keeps me from vilifying him for his handling of the domestic abuse.

Not everything is a morals decision, a hiding issue. Sometimes people, particularly autistic level talented people are just... socially clueless in some areas. I have no idea to what level he was conceptually aware the abuse. It was not something seen first hand. For some people, words just don't register. No argument, it should have been handled differently. Whether he was aware it should have been handled differently and didn't do it, I've doubts.

He's been a big supporter of local charities, without looking for a big splash. In my 15 seconds I found him to be far above board almost any other athletic coach I've come across. I do not have the impression that athletics and championships are his first or second or third priority. It was his job and he focuses on that like most at that level in any field of endeavor, with a very narrow focus. The buck stopped where it was supposed to, a rarity but when you work at that level, you have to trust there's a system in place of others to make clear side situations and that I wonder, is where the failure happened.

I have no issue with Urban Meyer addressing our team. I’m sure he’s as fine man as those that despise him. He’s every bit as upright as other people I’ve worked with in my long career. Nobody is beyond reproach and we all have done wrong.

Many many young men LOVE him and admire him. He has done well by most he has been associated with over the years.

Go Rockets !!!

No one is without flaws, and good decent people make mistakes. My sense is that as HC of OSU (and UF) automatically placed him in a position that draws dislike and hatred from many people right from the start. Then his success, and the disdain of OSU and of their fans, makes him an easy public target. And that does not excuse his questionable ethical and moral character and actions deserving of criticism, but perhaps the aforementioned context has created somewhat of a "piling on" of passionate dislikes by many that may be somewhat excessive and unearned.

People can be amazing and likeable and genuine and successful and still have major flaws. I haven't had 15 seconds with Urban to make a judgement. He lost his job and some of his reputation because he was deceiptful and arrogant when he got caught in the cover up of an assistant who was kept on staff after a career of sexual indescretions and abuse allegations. Everyone knew dude was a problem. That and Earle Bruce was what defined him. It wasn't Michigan state level felonious stuff, but Meyer and Smith chose to continue employing a coach who was dangerous to women. And when he had his high pressure media chance Meyer didn't come clean and own it. It doesn't change any of the positive impacts or successes he has had. Maybe, some of his flaws caught up to him. Maybe, he will coach once more.
Meyer can engage and impact people in powerful ways

The issue I have are people and fan bases who condemn him and his character flaws, and are willing to embrace him when he comes to their football program to resurrect it. If Urban decides to return to coaching there are many programs that will lineup to pay him 10mill a year to be their hero. Including blue blood programs. Like it or not this guy will go down in history as one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football. I'm sure Jim Harbaugh is happy he's gone, and so is the rest of the B1G.

Yep can just look around the NCAA, you can see that at play with plenty of former HCs always getting 2nd chances. The OSU (and UF) haters like to pile on with Meyer but their team and coach (or future coach) likely not much better, very few good guys in this business. especially today.

Urban Meyer likes the Southern California lifestyle and soon he’ll live it
