LGBT history in all public schools.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signed legislation ensuring state schools teach the role and contributions of LGBT people in American history.

Pritzker signed off on House Bill 346, which was recently passed by state House earlier this year, on Friday.

The law requires all schools in the state include "the role and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State" in official textbooks.

The state’s Board of Education is also required to publish a list of the textbooks authorized to be purchased under the law annually.

“Each public school district and state-recognized, non-public school shall, subject to appropriations for that purpose, receive a per pupil grant for the purchase of secular and non-discriminatory textbooks,” the bill text reads.

The bill also includes a section that allows the department to adopt rules "as necessary" for the implementation the law and “to ensure the religious neutrality of the textbook block grant program.”

State Sen. Heather Steans (D), who sponsored the legislation, said in a previous statement that “one of the best ways to overcome intolerance is through education and exposure to different people and viewpoints.”

“An inclusive curriculum will not only teach an accurate version of history but also promote acceptance of the LGBTQ community,” she continued.

“It is my hope that teaching students about the valuable contributions LGBTQ individuals have made throughout history will create a safer environment with fewer incidents of harassment,” Steans also said. “LGBTQ children and teenagers will also be able to gain new role models who share life experiences with them.”

If it wasn't so sad it'd be laugh out loud funny...

Gotta plant that seed early while their young minds are impressionable.

Right. Even though they will be claiming people are in that category who never came out of the closet or were never in that particular closet.

More dividing people into groups.

So is there going to be a holiday commemorating "Giving Head" celebrated in the Land of Lincoln? Giving Head Day would explain a century and a half later why the Civil War was worth fighting! We should have agreed on freeing slaves. But I don't think this newest concept would have gone over too well in the South.

And are people in Illinois going to do ancient Biblical research to try to uncover the first guy who attempted sodomy in Sodom so they can commemorate him? Is there going to be a founder of Cross Dressing Day? How far away is Beastiality Day? Will people tote signs and wear buttons saying "I banged my Beagle!"

If behavioral patterns get the same status as race will we have textbooks commemorating murderers, thieves, and sadists? This is insanity.

It's Hell on Earth in the form of the absence of reason!

The culture of a people should be measured by what they accomplish, not how they use their genitals.

But religion can't be taught in schools. Time for full tax deduction for private schools.

This absolutely needs to be the case.

So are they saying that no LBGT person has ever done enough to be recognized in regular history classes so they need to create a consolation history class to discuss these folks?

I'm sure it will lead to a LGBQT History Month. At least it won't be in February. I'm guessing they think if they can come up with a month each dedicated to 9 so called oppressed groups they won't have to teach American History at all.

I'm glad my grandkids don't live in Illinois. What a miserable place for normal people, yes, normal people.

This right here.

The GOP could take a serious lesson from Illinois.

They're a dem-dominated state. So it's not surprising that they do stuff like this, i.e. further their own agenda.

So why don't GOP-dominated states do the exact same thing -- mandate behaviors and philosophy that align with conservative views?

I'll tell you why they don't. Because they're OK with it. They're complicit.

You don't want kids being socialists? Quit teach socialistic ideals in the classroom.

I think that’s what they are doing here. Filling time so there is none left. The dumbing down of our future continues at break neck speed....

It's too bad that they don't rank SJW BS in the world educational rankings because we'd certainly lead that catagory. Might take some of the sting out of the fact that we suck hind tit in the subjects that actually matter.

The state is so abnormal that a whole town named itself Normal, Illinois to distinguish themselves from the rest of the folks in the state.
