Coach Michelle Clark-Heard lands another big commitment from 4-star recruit Riane Burton (Cypress, TX). She is listed as the 80th top prospect in the country and the #9 Wing for the class of 2020.

Wow, out of Texas? That's an incredible grab for the WBB program!

I have a feeling we're about to jump to a place we've never seen before in WBB some time very soon. People don't attach it too much, but the arena upgrade will significantly help our WBB Recruiting as well...and we've got a heck of a team already down on paper for next year. I wouldn't be absolutely shocked to see us sneak into the NCAAWB Tourney as an At-Large given when we have this coming year.

With how much top-end talent is around Ohio in Girls Basketball at the HS level, I could see some staying power here. I see no reason why Cincinnati can't support the women's team the way that a school like Toledo does (consistently in the Top 25 in attendance), especially after how the crowds looked during the NIT run.

Sounds as if she is the reverse Jordan Hicks-- she was born in Cleveland and all of her family is up here, but at some point her parents moved to Texas.

Exciting news. With UCONN departing there is room at the top of the American for UC Women's basketball.

As a business colleague once said, "the quality of our problems has improved dramatically". We now have to find a way to keep a cast of rising star coaches happy and appropriately compensated. Daunting task, but it beats the alternative.

Not a big fan of WBB but since we must have it do it well. If a team wears UC I want them to be a winner.

With UConn gone a league title seems possible.

Another selling point for P5.

Bolded, that's the penultimate goal in my mind and each varsity sport that raises UC's profile, as baseball and women's basketball did this past season, builds some brand equity for Cincinnati.

Short of that, I did attend two of the women's games late in the season. They play with passion and smarts and we actually had decent crowds and a good atmosphere in our arena. UC has a large enough student body and alumni base to build a fan following for winning programs in these other sports.

Coach Michelle was a super upgrade in coaching. Coach Elliott didn't either learn much from UConn's Geno or Geno won because he had most of the top 10 girls on his team. Either way, Elliott wasn't near the coach as Laurie Pirtle. Coach Pirtle just didn't recruit too well nationally.
UC Women's basketball is entering a new era. It's going to be fun to watch.

Speaking of, some people just have it made in life. Elliott is in some made up position at UConn. Among her duties:

She returned “home’’ to UConn in July 2018 as associate athletic director for the UConn National “C’’ Club, which connects the University’s 7,000 former student-athletes with current students seeking networking, mentorship, and job opportunities.

In addition to that role, Elliott has taken on administrative duties for lacrosse, softball, and some sports clinics, and is involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives at UConn.

Man, she was such a good coach that we lost out on by firing her that she is now a HC at....oh....

But at least she is an assistant under legendary coach....oh...
