RE: NCAA welcomes UConn to the Big East - mairving - 07-02-2019 11:15 AM

  • Two years of probation.
  • A three-year show-cause order for the former head coach. During that period, any NCAA member school employing him must restrict him from any athletically related duties unless it shows cause why the restrictions should not apply.
  • A vacation of records in which men’s basketball student-athletes competed while ineligible. The university must provide a written report containing the contests impacted to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff within 45 days of the public decision release.
  • A limit of 12 men’s basketball scholarships during the 2019-20 academic year, a reduction by one from the allowable 13 scholarships (self-imposed by the university).
  • A one-week ban on men’s basketball unofficial visits during the 2018-19 academic year (self-imposed by the university) and a two-week ban during the 2019-20 academic year.
  • A one-week ban on recruiting communications in men’s basketball during the 2018-19 academic year (self-imposed by the university).
  • A reduction of four men’s basketball recruiting-person days during the 2018-19 (self-imposed by the university) and 2019-20 academic years.
  • A one-visit reduction from the permissible number of official visits in men’s basketball during the rolling 2018-19 and 2019-20 two-year period.
  • A $5,000 fine (self-imposed by the university).

Its just amazing how idiotic the NCAA is. See North Carolina and many more examples of the NCAA continuing to beat up on the little guy and letting the money guys go scot free.

Exactly! I initially rejoiced in their pain. I hate UConn-even before leaving AAC. Northern ****sticks. But I really hate how the NCAA operates and this is just another example of selective justice.

Pete Cordelli said it best. The NCAA stands for No Clue At All

Whatever happened with Ollie's 10 million buyout?

If that is still pending, this actually helps UConn.

NCAA is hot garbage--the maggot kind . Their power is curtailed by their own survival needs. If the NCAA goes after the big dudes, they cut their own throats, so to speak...lol. ( I like that image)

bottom line. If pressured, the Big Boy schools would cut all ties with the NCAA, realignment would go wild and the NCAA would have to hold court over the leftovers or DIE.

During all the conference realignment I saw it mentioned and speculated many times that at some point the Power 5 would become the Power 4 with 16 teams each. At that point they would just leave the NCAA and form their own organization...

IMO, it should be US and everyone not affiliated with the p5 that tells the NCAA to get bent. The NCAA caters to the power5 and craps on everyone else. Why continue to subject ourselves to such unfair treatment when there is absolutely no reason to do so?

NCAA would love it if we did that. It's like saying the world is bad and we should all take a spaceship to Mars.

To me it is more like working for a boss who screws you in every possible way and takes advantage of you in every possible way, so you quit, start your own company and bring a large chunk of his employees along with you.

Competing with the big boys? When did that happen? Last I knew no one outside of the p5 has made it to the playoffs, even if they go undefeated.

There are no playoffs! What there is are three exhibition games and from those games the NCAA declares a champion of the exhibition season. There has never been a national champion in football and there never will be one until there is a tournament to determine the champion. Just like there is for every other men's and women's sport. The only thing that really matters is a conference championship, all the rest is an exhibition season.
