Truth be known, a good boys HS team could beat the national women’s team.

Yeah, but against who?

After their 13-0 rout, articles started popping up about a 2017 practice match between the USWNT and a Dallas TX boys 15-U team.

The boys won.
Yea that's been out there forever. Of course there are physical differences between sexes. My point is at least she did her job unlike the men losing two games this week to **** teams

Hell, is one of those even a country anymore? Depressing form from them.

A scrimmage to just get out on the field & get more touches on the ball should not be compared to bringing your A game in a World Cup game in the least. The USWNT would probably demolish the USMNT.

Yeah, that's the excuse we keep hearing.

But what we DO know is that the 15 year old boys won 5-1.

Probably shouldn't have used the word "score". Somehow I knew I'd get this response! 02-13-banana

We should get a really good boys HS team, have them all say they're trans, and watch them win the world championship!

That would be entertaining TV.

From the highlights I saw yesterday, half the goals scored weren't even well-placed shots. They were straight at the GK, and the reaction times were so bad that it had already hit the back of the net by the time the GK began to attempt to stop the shot.

Imagine believing the WNT could even hang with the men, much less "demolish" them.

The changing youth soccer landscape has ruined the men's team and it will be a long time before they are ever relevant again. The American men becoming pros now were the first to be exposed to the $3,000/year mega-club landscape and standardized "academy style" training that was supposed to be the answer to all our problems and turn us into Germany. Now we can't even win a game, much less make the World Cup.

RE: US Women’s Soccer Player Ignored The National Anthem As An ‘F-You’ To Trump - Owl 69/70/75 - 06-13-2019 02:24 PM

Trying to be Germany is not the way to beat Germany. Germany is very disciplined and stress execution, just like German industry. What we have that they don't is speed, speed, speed. But we don't use it.

Reminds me of the example of Mike Friday in another European sport, rugby. US has never been a major player, because we've always tried to emulate the European slug it out in the trenches approach. Friday took over the sevens team and has adopted a uniquely US approach, largely based on recruiting wide receivers and cornerbacks from the last cuts by the NFL. He has made it a speed game, and US just finished 2nd on the world sevens circuit this year. He's probably got the two fastest players on the circuit playing on the wings. They were cut by the NFL because they couldn't catch the ball, and they have problems with rugby, plus they are not great tacklers. But once or twice every game, they simply run away from everyone. With seven players on a field the width of a soccer pitch, there are lots of holes. I used his methods coaching both sevens and 15s, basically playing 15s like sevens, which is what New Zealand does. I would like to see the US do that as well, but there are just too many entrenched interests in the 15s community. I had a friend who played football at SMU, was a LB/defensive lineman. He played in the first US pro league, they made him a back, and he led the league in tries (touchdowns for US football fans) his first year, plus he was a heck of a tackler. But USA Rugby said basically thanks but no thanks, and he got so burned that I don't think he is even playing any more.

I am not as familiar with the US soccer establishment, but I get the idea that the US rugby establishment learned by watching soccer.

I would like to see a D1 college coach do that, be it basketball, soccer, track etc. Get a bunch men slap wigs on them. It isn't against the rules.

Don't even need them to wear wigs. They just have to gender identify as women on competition days.

Nah, I've watched some WC matches with my daughter. Copa America starts today so that's usually a great tourny as well.
