NCAA moving 3-point line back for next season - Romell Shorter - 06-05-2019 03:07 PM

Hurray! With my luck, players will shoot more frequently because they feel they are open.

The men's college basketball 3-point line is being pushed back next season to the international distance of 22 feet, 1 ¾ inches, the NCAA announced Wednesday.

The rule change was approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel. It will go into effect next season for Division I, but will wait until 2020-21 for Divisions II and III.

The current 3-point line is 20 feet, 9 inches; it was moved back from 19 feet, 9 inches prior to the 2008-09 season.

I doubt if it makes anyone stop chucking them. Is it 22 1 3/4 all around or shorter in the corners like NBA? Going to run out of room on the sidelines.

also when the offensive teams rebounds their own miss, the shot clock only resets to 20 seconds for the second shot. Why do they have to keep messing with the rules? oh, to keep a job for themselves in the ncaa office.

So UCLA will score even fewer points than anticipated. If that’s possible.

I had the exact same thought, but I didn’t want to be a “detractor”

No worries, there are only a handful of posters who have refused to move on...

That's even further from the basket when they finally run their play with 5 seconds to go in the shot clock.

I wish they'd quit jacking around with the rules.

Now when we talk great 3 point shooters, there's the 19'9"ers, the 20'9"ers and now the internationalers.

Just leave it alone!

I for one like moving the three point line back. The game has become too three point focused - especially at the NBA level. Honestly I'd like a more major overhaul (change the value of the 3-pointer and/or get rid of shorter corner threes), but moving the line back is a good start.

probably still 20 seconds on 3rd and more shots. Next will be web cams on the head.

I would like to see the 5 foul rule changed to perhaps 6 fouls or on any foul after 5 it would be 3 to make 2 or some other enhancement.
