Nice article with pictures of Tiananmen, which the Chinese government still tries to erase.

Imagine how much more difficult it would be to "erase" images of that event if it happened today---where every single person carries a high end digital camera as well as an HD TV camera in their pocket. Would they have even risked such a high profile crackdown in todays ultra-interconnected world of social media.

Has the guy who stood in front of the tanks ever been identified?

I once had a guy work for me who was incredibly good under pressure. When I gave him his annual review, I pointed that out as one of his strengths. He pulled up on his computer a wide angle picture of that scene. He said, "That (pointing to the guy standing there) wan't me, but that guy (one of the people in the crowd behind him) is me. Pressure doesn't bother me after that."
